MY HEAVENLY HOME
LIES OVER DEATH'S SEA!
Do you remember the old song,
"That Heavenly Home"

We are not going to get out of this world apart from death or the rapture. We will either leave by cloud or coffin, but it's certain life on this earth is temporary.

So, what happens to you after you die and where do you go? What happens to your soul and body? The Bible has much to say about life after death and as believers we have a sure and certain hope.

2 Corinthians 5:1-2 ESV
1 For we know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 2 For in this tent we groan, longing to put on our heavenly dwelling,

Paul had been a tentmaker by trade, and he knew that tents are meant to be temporary dwelling places.
A new tent is nice but the older it gets, well it’s like us: it stretches and sags, it gets holes in it that leak, it falls down and eventually it's beyond repair.

A tent is a temporary dwelling place for people on a journey like the Israelites. But once your journey is over and you’ve reached your destination, you have no more use for the tent. When we reach our destination, "that heavenly home", we will have no more use for this tent.

We will have a “building not made with hands.” We will have a glorious body like our Lord after His resurrection. With His resurrected body, Jesus walked out of the tomb that had sealed Him in. His resurrected body ascended to heaven without any wings or machinery.

All the pain and groaning of this present life in "our tents", makes us long for the day when this mortal will put on immortality and this corruptible body will become an incorruptible body.

We are pilgrims and strangers passing through a foreign land. This world is not paradise or heaven or our home or even close and never will be! We have been given temporary bodies to live in a temporary world.

Yet, we know, without a doubt where we're going and what lies ahead. Heaven is our home and we long to be there. We have set our affections on things above, and we are not looking back.

Make it every effort to live for God while you can because life is but a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.

"With Jesus we'll live in glory divine, that heavenly home will surely be mine!"
