When Things Fall Apart: Reflecting on 2020

So many things were ready to go
from trips, to conferences, a new website featuring in-person Focusing training (remember being with people?) and then things fell apart.

I just remember saving all my energy for clients and students and then wine-ing at the end of the night with my wife. I’m sure I am not alone.

When things begin to fall apart there is that natural tendency to hold on tight and keep it together.

coming in January!

The Seattle Focusing Institute Will Officially Launch in December!

It has been a long held dream of mine to create a shared space for learning, mentoring, and integrating Focusing into the healing arts.

The time to realize that dream is now, and it's with excitement and gratitude that I move into this season of sharing what I know heals.

I will continue to see therapy clients, but my long term focus is now The Seattle Focusing Institute and its Focusing Training Program.

To celebrate, I'll include a special offer in my December newsletter.

Newsletters you receive from me going forward will be from The Seattle Focusing Institute.

Helping At-risk Girls in El Salvador

My friends Beatrice Blake and Heazel Martínez are doing good work. Through their program“The Power of Girls’ Voices" they work with girls who are at risk of becoming victims of gender-based violence in El Salvador.

They teach Focusing, Empathic Communication and other growth practices to girls and their families.

How It Is
by William Stafford
There is a thread you follow. It goes among
things that change. But it doesn’t change.
People wonder about what you are pursuing.
You have to explain about the thread.
But it is hard for others to see.
While you hold it you cannot get lost.
Tragedies happen: people get hurt
or die; and you suffer and get old.
Nothing you do can stop time’s unfolding.
You never ever let go of the thread.
