A Message from Rabbi Lindemann

Rabbi Lindemann has been graciously sharing his experiences at Have Faith Haiti, a mission and orphanage in Port-au-Prince. This week he takes us along on his journey as the community celebrates the New Year. To follow along on his journey, and see regular updates, click here.

Here at Have Faith Haiti the New Year is greeted with sparklers—one for every student and when they are lit, each student makes a wish. For the younger children, the sparklers are stuck into the ground in front of them. The older kids hold their own.

Because the common New Year began with sparklers, I thought about our New Year. According to tradition, Rosh Hashanah marks the anniversary of Creation and the first of God’s creations was light. And that’s how I began my remarks in church, on Sunday, January 1 (yes, I always go to their services and speak when I am here on a Sunday) ...

A Message from Executive Director Ron Safier

With recent Board approval to purchase a new section of burial plots at Crescent Memorial Park, I thought I would use this opportunity to draw attention to the Life Cycles section of the TBS website, under the category of Prayer, and specifically the section on Death and Mourning. Here you will find information about Crescent Memorial Park and how to obtain burial plots in the TBS section of the cemetery as well as purchasing a Yahrzeit plaque for your loved one in our memorial alcove, which includes a digital listing on our interactive Yahrzeit display board.
