Dear Union Church Family and Friends,
We enter our season of Stewardship amidst Lent transitioning into Easter. What a profound parallel to the two years we have lived through. Scarcity, separation, loss – and then rejoining and renewal.
Indeed, what a time it has been. The Covid-19 pandemic brought disruption, separation and rejoining like no other time we’ve ever known. It’s also true that as we look ahead to The Union Church’s next chapter, we may never appreciate the power of gathering together in person more than we do today.
The beauty of worship — gathering together in the midst of a world full of distance. The wonder of music — singing together in the midst of a world full of silence and loneliness. The sweetness of sacraments — celebrating together the waters of baptism and the nourishment of Communion in the midst of a world full of dust and hunger. And the joy of service — working together in the midst of a world full of broken systems and broken hearts.
We have experienced separation, rejoining, loss and healing. We’ve mourned the loss of dear members, celebrated marriages, births and baptisms, endured re-locations and dislocations, lived through our beloved former minister’s new calling. We came together as a cherished community, holding each other in thought, word and prayer, carrying this love into the future that is unfolding. Through it all, we have been changed. We will not be the same – and we live into that with our community and the spirit of hope. Indeed, the Union Church in Waban is where hope thrives.
So keep praying and giving thanks for all the ways our faith, our prayers, our worship, our music, our sacraments, our building, our service, and our community connect us all. Consider your pledge to the Union Church. We will provide more information for your reflection over the coming weeks and celebrate Stewardship Sunday on April 3rd. As always, all gifts are deeply appreciated and are integral to the continuing of this vibrant faith community.

With gratitude,
