It's been an incredible week, and we owe thanks to a lot of people. Thanks to you, our readers and members, who have generously donated to help us fight against Prop. 33 which would destroy the rental industry in California.

Thanks also to our volunteers, who give their time and energy to answering emails, attending Rent Board meetings, creating advertising campaigns, and delivering signs.

On that note, we'd especially like to congratulate one member of our team who has now delivered and installed over 800 lawn signs! He has asked to remain anonymous, but many of you have enjoyed his friendly charm as he met you to make sure you had a lawn sign. Our photo at the top is his 800th sign!

Equally, we need to congratulate our campaign team, who are turning your donations into banners all over Pasadena, like this one:

WHERE DID $425,000 GO?

The Rent Board is hoping to brush its disastrous no-bid contract with bhyv under the carpet.

On Thursday, October 17^th, the Board will continue to push for a completely unfair rate of return for housing providers, but it will also hear a "bhyv Concluding Report".

bhyv Consulting took $425,000 of housing providers' money, failed to to meet it's contractual deadlines and thus exposed the city to legal risk over it's failure to implement the voter mandated rent registry. Additionally bhyv missed deadlines to answer tenant and housing provider questions they were contracted and paid paid to do. You won't be surprised to hear that bhyv also also failed to include any report in the agenda packet.

The CEO of bhyv is currently ineligible to practice law, and has failed to comply with regulations designed to safeguard client funds.
