Are you worrying about news reports that young people either aren’t going to turn out to vote this year or are going to waste their votes on third party candidates? WE ARE TOO! So we are taking action.
We are launching a special project this spring specifically to combat young people’s mistaken sense that it doesn’t matter who wins this election.
This special project will focus on raising awareness about a 900-page manifesto called Project 2025. This report may be the most important document you’ve never heard of. Funded and organized by The Heritage Foundation, an influential right-wing think tank, it outlines conservatives’ vision for where they hope to take this country in 2025 and beyond. It calls for the dismantling of the federal government, giving special ‘supreme’ powers to a President, and creating a militarized domestic surveillance corps to combat individuals or groups at odds with the conservative agenda. It lays out in detail a plan to deprive more women of reproductive care, make voting harder, reverse efforts to limit climate change, eliminate LGBT rights, gut important oversight provided by the federal government and much, much more. It’s downright horrifying. To learn more about this, read a summary at www.stopthecoup2025.org or check out the report itself at https://www.project2025.org/).
If young people knew about this roadmap for their future, they’d be terrified -- and they would understand why they must vote. The time to act is now. Young people are already shaping their views about the election in response to current events, and they need a fuller picture. By employing very targeted social media to share information about Project 2025, we can counter the growing unwillingness of young people to vote before it is too late.
We plan to bring back our top social media stars from former internship sessions and enlist them in a special social media outreach project to educate millions of young people about Project 2025. Students for Voting Justice has an unusual ability to communicate with young people via social media. Our interns pick up on the trends that that are popular in their own social networks and use them to attract the attention of their peers in a way that is remarkably successful.
Our intern-designed social media reaches young potential voters in a way that ads designed by professionals simply can’t.
WE NEED YOUR HELP! Social media ads cost money and we need to pay the interns for their work. Every $10,000 we spend enables us to reach 1 million young people on Instagram and TikTok. Our goal is to raise $50,000 for this special campaign, which would make it possible for us to reach an audience of 5 million young people in North Carolina, Georgia, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania – all states where youth turnout will be critically important to the election’s outcome.
Please help us make certain that young people understand exactly what is at stake this year. Click on the link below to donate. If you mail a check, indicate Project 2025 Response in the memo line so that we know you want to support this special project, and if you donate by credit card, make sure to dedicate your donation to Project 2025 Response on the second page of the on-line donation link.
Together, we CAN mobilize young people to vote.
