Labor Day Weekend in Chautauqua
It's that time of year again, summer's final hurrah! Labor Day weekend in Chautauqua County never disappoints thanks to festivals and events, family get-togethers, and outdoor fun that keeps us running. Did you know that Labor Day officially became a federal holiday in 1894, exactly 20 years after Chautauqua Institution opened its gates? That means people have officially been vacationing here since before Labor Day!
As we transition from summer into the harvest season, there is still plenty happening in Chautauqua County. Soon the air along the Lake Erie shoreline will become heavy with the sweet, intoxicating scent of Concord grapes.
Peek'n Peak's Fall Festival weekends are coming up and so is the
Busti Apple Festival. We don't want to steel summer's thunder just yet so we will share more information about those an other great fall events soon. If you can't wait for our next eNewsletter to be delivered, visit
www.CHQColors.com to begin planning your autumn adventures.
In the meantime, we would love to see what memories you made this summer in Chautauqua County. Tag us on

An Annual Tradition in New York's Pearl City
|
Perhaps there is no place better to celebrate Labor Day and the American workforce than the very city where the Crescent adjustable wrench was born. Founded in 1907, the Crescent Tool Company quickly became known for its popular adjustable wrenches. While today Crescent is part of Apex Tool Group in Maryland, the City of Jamestown's manufacturing industry is one of its strongest.
The annual Labor Day Festival is a fun day of live music, kids activities, a 5k, food, vendors and fireworks.

Things to Do and See Along Lake Erie
|
Chautauqua County is fortunate to share about 50 miles of Lake Erie shoreline, which boasts some of western New York's best landscapes.
Vineyards cover the coastal plain meeting lake access points at beaches, tributary outlets and harbors. Quaint Victorian villages, farmers markets and produce stands, antique shops, wineries and restaurants stand ready to greet visitors all summer long. And, in the fall, the harvest festivals and sweet aroma of ripening Concord grapes draw food lovers from near and far. If you are visiting the region, or even just driving through, take some time to stop and explore these Lake Erie gems.
