HAPPENING SUNDAY
Pastor Trudy's Message
"Rizpah Mourns Her Sons "
by Lauren Wright Pittman
A Sanctified Art LLC | sanctifiedart.org
Public Grief that Inspires Action
No way around it, this Scripture is full of pain and heartache and Rizpah does not get to hide away. Her loss, and therefore her grief, are intensely public. So relevant in these days when we are publicly grieving the loss of many young lives to violence and other lives to Covid-19. We put it at a distance, until we can't. Where will Rizpah find comfort?

Mighty God, You join us in our grieving and call us to join others in theirs. In Your Son Jesus, our grief and our healing are connected. In His name we pray, Amen.

WONDERING...
REAL QUESTIONS FROM REAL PEOPLE TO LEARN MORE ABOUT GLC
What is happening in the church building these days?  There's a song that says, 'The church is not a building, the church is not the steeple, the church is not a resting place, the church is the PEOPLE!'  Throughout the pandemic we have maintained a minimal cleaning schedule. We also have routine maintenance that has been taken care of through contractors—HVAC, gutter cleaning and our backflow and elevator inspections have happened. A smaller team of counters has been meeting a couple of times each month to do the counts. The staff is starting to have office hours. The AA groups that meet at GLC continued to meet during this time as well. Of course, it has also become a YouTube studio!  But it is not the same hive of activity we had pre-pandemic when our well-used building was central to our identity. Now wherever YOU are is the church!
In-person Worship in August
The live stream will continue, but we are also committed to trying new things and learning as we continue to live into the realities of the pandemic. It became clear in July that the vast majority of the congregation is not interested in coming back in larger groups, so we are offering smaller group options and some outdoor options as well. Remember, socially-distanced visits can also be arranged just let Pastor Trudy know.
Wednesday, August 19 @ 11 am
For those over 65: Small Group Worship with Communion in the Sanctuary (10-15 people).
