Which Catholic Pope Do Catholics Believe?
|
Roman Catholics are faced with a serious dilemma. Since they have been indoctrinated to believe that their popes are infallible, they must obey their infallible teachings. "The Roman Pontiff... enjoys this infallibility... when, as supreme pastor and teacher of all the faithful...he proclaims a definitive act or doctrine pertaining to faith or morals. The definitions 'must be adhered to with the obedience of faith'" (Catechism of the Catholic Church, para. 891). Catholics believe that the Apostle Peter was their first pope but they do not believe his definitive doctrines. Instead they choose to believe and obey the heretical teachings of Pope Francis. This should be a serious dilemma for all thinking Catholics. How can two "infallible" popes contradict each other with their infallible teachings, and how can Catholics adhere to two sets of conflicting doctrines? Consider the following examples that contrast the teachings of the Apostle Peter with Pope Francis:
- Peter was an elder who submitted to Jesus as the head of the Church (1 Pet. 5:1; Col. 1:18). He taught that Jesus was the Shepherd and Guardian of souls (1 Pet. 2:25).
-
Francis believes he is the Vicar of Christ and the head of the Church, with supreme and universal power which he exercises unhindered (CCC 882).
- Peter taught we are born again through the living, abiding Word of God (1 Pet. 1:23).
-
Francis teaches we are reborn through the ritual of baptism (CCC 1213).
- Peter taught salvation is by faith in Jesus Christ alone (Acts 4:12).
-
Francis teaches salvation can be attained apart from Jesus Christ (CCC 841).
- Peter taught a believer's eternal salvation and inheritance is secured by the power of almighty God (1 Pet. 1:3-5).
-
Francis teaches salvation is conditional because it is attained by merit and can be lost by mortal sin (CCC 2027, 1035).
- Peter knew Jesus was the rock (1 Pet. 2:7-8).
-
Francis believes Peter was the rock (CCC 552).
- Peter warned of false teachers who would come into the church to teach heresies and malign the way of truth (2 Pet. 2:1-2).
-
Francis is a false teacher and under divine curse for adding requirements to the Gospel and naming Mary as an intercessor and mediatrix of salvation (Gal. 1:6-9; CCC 969, 1129).
- Peter refused adoration from men (Acts 10:26).
- Francis welcomes the adoration of men.
We must warn Catholics that Peter was not the first pope and that he was not infallible. Paul had to correct him for not being “straightforward about the truth of the gospel” (Gal. 2:11-14). However, the Word of God that Peter penned under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit is infallible and authoritative. Scripture never teaches that Peter had authority over the other Apostles, and there is no mention of the papacy anywhere in Scripture. The Lord Jesus, who purchased the church with His own blood, is the one and only head of the church (Col. 1:18; Acts 20:28). We must also warn Catholics not to trust in princes, in mortal man, in whom there is no salvation (Ps. 146:3). It is our prayer that Catholics will test every man's teaching with the inerrant, inspired, authoritative Word of God and reject any teaching that opposes it (Acts 17:11).

Catholicism's Opposition to the Bible
|
How many different ways does the Catechism of the Catholic Church oppose the Bible? There are more than we can count, but this Gospel tract gives 13 of the most important contradictions that deal with authority, regeneration, justification, salvation and the Lord's Supper. Anyone who reads this tract will see that Roman Catholicism stands opposed to the faith of the apostles. This Gospel tract will force Catholics to make an important decision: should I trust Christ and His Word or the teachings and traditions of my religion? It is impossible to believe both.

Americans Must Stand For Their Freedom
|
John MacArthur gave a timely message on July 4th that addressed the exceptional freedom that our nation once enjoyed and cherished. He said, "It’s pretty clear that we’re headed toward totalitarianism, mind control, censorship and immorality at a level which we have never seen. Laws are now made to protect the immoral and to punish those who are moral." He warned that totalitarianism always ends the same way, with millions of people being slaughtered. That’s history. He noted that what they did at Grace Church was an act of defiance against the totalitarian efforts of this government overstepping its bounds. He said, "We don’t answer to them, we answer to a higher Authority." Listen here.

Costi Hinn and Mike Gendron For the Gospel
|
Costi Hinn interviewed Mike Gendron on his For the Gospel podcast on the topic of contending for the true Gospel. Mike explained why Roman Catholics need to be rescued from a religion that is under divine condemnation for teaching a false and fatal Gospel (Gal. 1:6-9). He also gives effective ways to evangelize precious souls in this huge mission field that is often overlooked because of ecumenically-minded pastors. You can listen to the interview here.

Vaccine May Be Needed to Buy or Sell
|
National Institutes of Health director Dr. Francis Collins said that he supports businesses requiring proof of vaccination for customers. Collins, who is also on the Vatican's Pontifical Academy of Sciences, affirmed that "it would be good for more businesses to require vaccine credentials in order to have vaccinated customers.” We can only wonder if this potential mandate is a precursor to what will take place in the Tribulation. God's prophetic word tells us the false prophet will cause "all, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free men and the slaves, to be given a mark on their right hand or on their forehead, and he provides that no one will be able to buy or to sell, except the one who has the mark, either the name of the beast or the number of his name" (Rev. 13:16-17). Letters to Edify and Encourage the Saints
|
Hi Mike, I'm sorry to hear how badly you have fallen away from the Catholic faith. It's interesting, but I had two former Catholics in my home once a week for a year in 2019. They are now Jehovah Witnesses and extremely passionate about their faith. I sigh and wonder how the world would be different if Catholics were that passionate about their faith. I only wish Christians would stop slamming other Christians. Satan is too clever for us. Richard, Internet
Hi Richard, Jehovah Witnesses are not Christians. Neither are the many false converts who, along with them, will hear the most terrifying words a professing Christian could ever hear when Jesus says, "I never knew you; depart from Me, you workers of lawlessness" (Mat. 7:21-23). The "many" who will be turned away on Judgment Day are those who thought they could merit eternal life by their works instead of trusting Christ alone. Tragically, when Jesus declares "Depart from Me," there will be no second chance, no excuses, and no blaming the false teachers who deceived them. I pray you will come to your senses and escape the snare of the devil who holds you captive to do his will. Your only hope is to abide in God's Word to learn the truth that will set you free from religious deception and the snare of the devil (John 8:31-32; 2 Tim. 2:24-26).
Dear Mike, I finally finished reading your excellent book Preparing for Eternity and looking up all the Scriptures that you referenced to prove your points. It was a marvelous 7-month task during my quiet times and I enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you for the effort in writing this wonderful book. I will use it as a valuable reference when witnessing to all my unsaved friends. R.B., Trophy Club, TX
Mike and Jane, Thank you again for spending so much time with me. I know you are very busy people and doing that was a great sacrifice. Since I returned home, I have been listening to archived messages on your church's website continuously. I can certainly see why you would pick up and move, lock, stock and barrel to be a part of Countryside Bible Church. Mike, your message on Evangelizing for the Glory of God was so encouraging. I just love how you wiggle the Gospel cleverly into so many of your conversations. I want to talk to my pastor and see if he would invite you to our church. The Imperial Valley is a Catholic landmine and in such need of the truth. Would you be willing to come to California? D.T., El Centro, CA
Mike, It bothers me that shrines to Mary are popping up everywhere in Ireland. Thank you for your courage to speak up for truth. My heart is broken as I try to witness to deaf ears and closed minds. When they get Jesus wrong, they get everything else wrong. I.G., Ireland

God's Faithfulness to Israel
|
It took the Roman Catholic Church nearly 50 years to acknowledge Israel as a sovereign nation after it was physically born again in 1948. They were reluctant to do so because the Vatican believes the Roman Catholic Church has replaced Israel as God's chosen people. They are not alone, as several denominations and churches have also embraced the lie of Replacement Theology. A video that might change their minds is Israel Defying the Odds. It is a powerful 3 1/2 minute video on how God continues to bless Israel and the Jewish people. We also have a DVD message that proclaims God's Faithfulness to Israel.

Al Mohler Praises Former Pope Benedict
|
In a very troubling interview with Roman Catholic Archbishop Charles Chaput, Al Mohler continues to confuse people about the theological differences between evangelicalism and Roman Catholicism. Mohler calls Joseph Ratzinger, the former pope Benedict, "one of the most brilliant theological minds of our times" at the 18:45 minute mark of the interview. Mohler must have overlooked all the ungodly, unbiblical, deceptive and twisted theological statements Joseph Ratzinger declared as the editor of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. You can listen to the interview here.
