DID YOU KNOW that several studies were just published about how important it is to protect our young people from excess inflammation?

According to one study from JAMA Psychiatry, low-grade systemic inflammation, tracked by C-reactive protein blood level screening, peaking in midchildhood was associated with specific mental and cardiometabolic disorders in young adulthood.

Another study from JAMA Psychiatry expanded the inflammatory biomarker screening in young persons to include leukocytes, haptoglobin, C-reactive protein, and IgG. They were all found to be associated with a risk of inflammation-related psychiatric disorders, and should be used for high-risk population identification.

Finally, a study from The Journal of Nutrition found that elevated cow milk antibody concentrations (IgG) and high consumption of liquid milk after infancy are related to type 1 diabetes development in children (diabetes is a chronic inflammatory disease). According to the authors, cow milk intolerance screening is a strong biomarker for young immune systems prone to developing islet autoimmunity and should be emphasized.

Steve: One of the most common questions we receive from clients are about tap water filtration. If the question is, should I filter my tap water, the answer is ALWAYS yes. However, when the question becomes how should you filter your water, the answer is more complex.

Reverse Osmosis or Carbon Filter?

Reverse osmosis systems, especially ones with the NSF/ANSI 53 designation, remove almost every contaminant that exists (including PFAS or forever chemicals). Reverse Osmosis is especially important if you live in a municipality that adds a lot of fluoride to its water. The downside of reverse osmosis is that it removes beneficial minerals that our bodies usually glean from water. This is why we recommend a broad-based trace mineral supplement for clients using reverse osmosis.

Most carbon filters, whether for refrigerators, water pitchers, or faucet connected, are effective but do not remove "everything". Brita and Pur are very solid, economic, and easy to find water filter brands. If you are looking for a carbon filter that also removes most PFAS, here are four brands you might consider. How to Get Started

2. When your results are ready, request that we set up a Pure Genomics account for you. We just need your full name, email address, and date of birth.
3. You will receive an email invitation from Pure Genomics with a link to set up your account and instructions for how to upload 23andMe or Ancestry data.
4. You will receive a confirmation from Pure Genomics when your report is ready and we can then set up an appointment to go over your results.
