Bee Cave Brief: October 2026

Fall has arrived in Bee Cave and there are plenty of ways to celebrate the cooler temps.

Join Bee Cave Police for National Night Out on Oct. 6.

Have a scary, good time at the Haunted Trail Oct. 22 or 23.

For the tiniest trick-or-treaters, come to Trunk or Treat on Oct. 25 and enjoy the Rolling Sculpture Car Show at the same time.

Early Voting for Mid-Term Elections

Early voting for this year’s mid-term elections runs Oct. 19 – Oct. 30.

Election Day is Nov. 3.

Bee Cave City Hall is a polling location so anyone registered to vote in Travis County can vote here. But, you cannot cast a ballot until Oct. 19.

If you have questions about voting, go to votetexas.gov.

New City Budget in Effect

The 2027 Bee Cave budget went into effect October 1 and includes no new taxes.

The city council approved a property tax rate of 2 cents per $100 of valuation, among the very lowest rates in the state. For the average Bee Cave homeowner, that comes to $153 in annual city property taxes.

The new budget continues investment in public safety, road maintenance, parks, year-round events, library services and much more.

“When you consider we're in a time of rising costs and inflation across the board, that's happening for the city too. Our bills are increasing as well. But we are planning very carefully. We're absorbing that cost into our budget. And we have been able to successfully not pass those cost increases onto our residents,” said Bee Cave Mayor Kara King.

Hearing Date for White Rocks Project

A hearing date has been announced for the White Rocks Condo and Amphitheater Project planned for Hwy 71 between Austin and Bee Cave. The city has officially opposed this development, along with Travis County, for environmental reasons. The TCEQ hearing date will be Tue. Oct. 27 at 10am on Zoom.

Haunted Trail Volunteers Needed

The Bee Cave Haunted Trail is returning Oct. 22 and 23 and the city needs volunteers to dress up and be part of the fun.

Volunteers will be situated along the trail and will be in spooky costumes. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old. Service hours are available.

If you would like to attend Haunted Trail, no RSVP is necessary. Just show up at the trailhead behind Chick Fil A on 620. The event is 7pm-9pm.

Scenic City Contest

Bee Cave is a top contender in the Texas Scenic City contest. That’s not surprising given our rolling hills and beautiful landscape. The city also works hard to minimize light pollution and is proud to be a certified Dark Sky community. Voting is now open in the Scenic City contest. Cast your ballot today.
