Why Is The Village Hall Phone Ringing? |
|
When is in-person absentee voting? In-person absentee voting will take place at Village Hall (5300 N Marlborough Drive) starting Tuesday, October 20, 2020 through Friday, October 30, 2020 during regular business hours. On Friday, October 30, the hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
When is prescription drug take back day? The next National Rx Take Back Day will be October 24, 2020. This event is a safe, convenient, and responsible way to dispose of unused or expired prescription drugs at locations in communities throughout the country. The event will be at Whitefish Bay Village Hall from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on October 24, 2020.

Whitefish Bay Trick-or-Treat Announcement: |
|
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Wisconsin Department of Health Services, and North Shore Health Department have all recommended against in-person trick-or-treating this year. Although Whitefish Bay was planning to proceed with designated Trick-or-Treat hours, after further consideration of the current status of the COVID-19 pandemic in Wisconsin the Village of Whitefish Bay will no longer be setting Trick-or-Treat hours this year.
Following CDC guidelines, neighborhood level trick-or-treating is also discouraged, and the Village will not approve any street closures for October 31 block parties to further reduce gatherings.
Residents are encouraged to enjoy the modified, socially distant version of the Whitefish Bay Civic Foundation’s Great Pumpkin Festival, which will take place from October 28 to 31 in Old School House Park. See below for event details!

Great Pumpkin Festival Information: |

Enjoy a festive, safe, socially distant version of Whitefish Bay's favorite fall tradition: The Great Pumpkin Festival. Read below for new details on the Whitefish Bay Civic Foundation's annual autumn event.
Date: October 28 to 31, 2020
Locale: Old School House Park (5240 N Marlborough Dr.) next to the Whitefish Bay Public Library.
Details: Decorate Whitefish Bay with carved pumpkins displayed at Old Schoolhouse Park for a festive, safe, socially distant version of this fall tradition!
Drive up to our convenient pumpkin pick-up and drop-off location on North Idlewild Avenue, open 11:00 am to 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm daily. Take your pumpkin home to carve and bring it back to our drop-off, and we will display your creation for all to see!
All pumpkins will be lit 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm nightly, and we welcome you to walk through the park and enjoy the pumpkins and decorations. We encourage you to practice good habits by wearing a mask and keeping your distance from others.
Please note: To provide a safe event for all, this year there will be no carving of pumpkins on-site, no music, and no food and beverage. (We know! We’re bummed, too!) Thanks for helping us safely celebrate, Whitefish Bay!

November 3, 2020 Election FAQ (Updated 10/9/20):
The Village has received over 6,800 absentee ballot requests out of approximately 10,800 registered voters. Of those requests, over 3,000 ballots have already been completed and returned!

Updates from Public Works: |
|
Fall loose leaf collection: Public Works will begin loose leaf collection on Monday, October 19 (weather permitting). Collection is typically weekly, but there is no specific collection schedule. Collection is dependent on crew availability and the volume of leaves that need to be collected. Click here for details and instructions.
Brush chipper collection: Brush will be collected by Village crews next week (October 19, 2020). Brush should be placed in the parkway between the curb and the sidewalk.

COVID Testing Locations
In Milwaukee, the Wisconsin National Guard is conducting free COVID-19 testing for anyone age 5 and older, regardless of symptoms. Drive-thru and walk-up testing is available. Monday through Thursday from 11am to 6pm; Friday and Saturday from 11am to 5pm. No appointment needed!
- Milwaukee South – UMOS, 2701 S Chase Avenue
- Milwaukee North - Barack Obama School - Custer Stadium Site, 4300 W Fairmount Avenue
Please note these sites will be closing on October 17, 2020. By Oct. 19, the main testing site will be a drive-thru station at Miller Park in the Miller Parking Lot.

Sweet Water Photo Contest:
From clearing litter out of storm drains or drainage ditches, to planting native plants that soak up rain water, to cleaning up after pets, we know there are many ways that our residents protect our watershed. Now it’s time to show the rest of the state!
Our partners at Respect Our Waters are running a photo competition throughout southeastern Wisconsin to showcase how people around the region are creatively protecting our watersheds. Let's show our neighbors that nobody respects their water like Whitefish Bay! Get outside, show your Whitefish Bay pride, and submit your best photos of how you take care of our water and our community at this link. After submitting, be sure to check out all the posts from around the region and vote on your favorite submissions.

Bay Gives Back Food Drive: |
|
Whitefish Bay High School’s Bay Gives Back organization will be holding a village-wide Food Drive for the Riverwest Food Pantry from Saturday, October 10 through Saturday, October 24.
The food drive will be held virtually. Those interested in supporting the food drive can purchase items online where they will be directly sent to the Riverwest Food Pantry for distribution. Learn more.

Late Open: On Monday, October 12, 2020 the library will open at 2:00 pm due to a staff training. We will remain open until 7:00 pm. |

Wednesdays from 10:00 am to Noon and 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Pick up location is outside of the library's front doors.

Pick up location is near at the adult reference desk. Kits are available on a first come, first served basis. Kits are available when the library opens until they are gone.

NSHD Highlights 10/6/20: Indoor Air and COVID-19
The State of Wisconsin is experiencing a surge in COVID-19 cases. Indoor gatherings are not recommended at this time, as COVID-19 can be easily spread from person to person when people are sharing enclosed spaces for an extended period of time.
If you choose to share an indoor space with non-household members, there are precautionary measures that can lower the risk of transmission – wear masks, stay physically distant from others, and increase the ventilation. When used properly, air cleaners and HVAC filters can help reduce airborne contaminants including viruses in a building or small space. When used along with other best practices (such as physical distancing, frequent hand washing, and surface disinfection), increasing ventilation can be part of a plan to protect yourself and your family from COVID-19.
Indoor Air in Homes and COVID-19:
- Increase ventilation with outside air – while the weather is still nice, open windows or screen doors. Ventilation can be increased through cross-ventilation by opening windows or doors at opposite sides of a home (but preferably not directly opposite of each other) and keeping internal doors open.

- Portable air cleaners, also known as air purifiers or air sanitizers, are designed to filter the air in a single room or area. Central furnace or HVAC filters are designed to filter air throughout a home. Portable air cleaners and HVAC filters can reduce indoor air pollutants that are airborne including viruses.
- If using a portable air cleaner, place the air cleaner in the room you spend the most time in or where more vulnerable people spend the most time. To help reduce risks of airborne transmission, direct the airflow of the air cleaner so that is does not blow directly from one person to another.

Whitefish Bay Recreation Department Program Announcement:
As a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic the 3F Luncheons and 55 and Better Trips have been suspended until our seniors can be brought together safely. Our number one goal is to work to mitigate the risks of COVID-19 and we look forward to the time when we can resume serving Whitefish Bay's seniors to our fullest.

The Whitefish Bay Farmers' Market is every Saturday through October 19, 2020 from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. The Farmers' Market is located in the Aurora Parking Lot (325 E Silver Spring Dr.).
