Why are the PE Building doors locked on the days of scheduled home games?
I agree. Obviously, we could have a security issue if the doors were left open even if we have an athletic contests. I will speak to Mr. Cassidy, our Athletic Director, to help come up with a plan for next school year. Perhaps we can have a parent volunteer man the door.

My daughter needs a tutor for Computer Science. She told me the school does not have a tutor for this subject. Can you recommend some outside tutors?
I think you need to start with the teacher. If this doesn't work, please have your daughter see her counselor to come up with a plan of action.

We need to address the after school programs to ensure that students are safe on their way home from school. It is not always possible for her to be in a group or with one other student if no one else is taking the same route home.
We do have a Security and Safety Team that meets at least twice a month. Please reach out to Mr. Bryan Tyrpin, social studies teacher, at btyrpin@cps.edu , who chairs this committee.

I am curious to know the status of the football program. Very sad to hear of Coach Mallette’s departure and am concerned about the school’s ability to build on the team's success without a strong leader.
If you know me I like to win at everything! With that said our school is committed to our football program. We recently went through interviews and believe we have picked the right successor. Coach Mallette strongly recommended this person as well. Mr. Daniel Finger, a Whitney Young graduate who has been with the program for several years will assume the position as head football coach. During the interviews it was evident he is passionate and committed to the program while understanding the type of academically focused athletes we have.  I met with the leadership of the football team and their choice overwhelmingly was Mr. Finger. We wish him well. If there is any support you can lend the program please reach out to him asap.

Can you please let community know what colleges students are going to?
We generally provide this information in our graduation program. If you are asking about a specific college, please email me and I will let you know if any of our students have been accepted there.

A Question from Dr. Kenner:
Do you live near Jane Addams elementary school near Avenue O? If so, we have an incoming freshman student who would like a fellow Dolphin to come to school with. Please send me an email at jdkenner@cps.edu and I will forward the information.

Senior Exit Survey
Every year CPS asks us to administer the Senior Exit Questionnaire. This is in addition to the Naviance Survey. Please complete the SEQ ASAP, as it will be closing on 5/31/19 and I will have to account for missing students/incomplete responses to CPS. The directions from CPS are listed below. Thank you for your assistance.

1)  Please have your senior students go to www.cps.edu/seq2019 in either Internet Explorer or Google Chrome.

2) ENTER YOUR 8-DIGIT CPS STUDENT ID # AND BIRTHDATE
·    Enter your birthdate in the format: MM/DD/YYYY
·    Yes, you need the slashes
·    Be sure to enter a 4-digit year
·    Do not enter leading zeros (i.e. not “05” for May; use “5” for May instead) Correct example: If you were born on January 1, 2000, you should enter 1/1/2000.

3) Begin answering the questions.

4) To progress to the next page, click on the arrows at the bottom right of the page.

5) The back button may not be available after you’ve answered some questions because your responses to questions impact which questions you’ll get next. So please take a moment before hitting the next button to make sure your answer is accurate.

6) How to select the college you plan to attend: If you plan to pursue some type of post-secondary education (education completed after high school), you will be asked to identify the college you will attend in the fall. Begin typing the name of the school you plan to attend in the “Select an option” field. If the name of the college/university does not come up, then delete what you’ve typed and type in “Other” and select that option before moving on to the next question.

7)   At the end of the survey you will see a page with a confirmation number and a link to the Post-secondary Planning Resources page. Please visit the Post-secondary Planning Resources page for more information and resources that will be useful to you upon graduation. If your school requires proof of completion of the SEQ, please print this page with your confirmation number.

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact Mr. Fanning jpfanning@cps.edu.
