EAGLES 🦅 for DOLPHINS! 🐬 For the first time in Whitney Young history, both the boys’ and girls’ golf teams took highest honors at City Championship at Indian Boundary golf course in Chicago. Henry Reiland (JR) won Medalist by 5 strokes with a one-under-par 71 for 18 holes. Henry crushed his drive on the par five 16th hole, then stiffed his second shot 95 yards for a tap-in Eagle putt. Meilin Hoshino (SR) won Medalist by 4 strokes with a two-under-par 33 for 9 holes. On the par four 7th hole Meilin hit a 3-wood to within 71 yards of the green then sailed a perfect pitch shot into the hole for Eagle 2. The WY Girls Golf team captured City Championship for the second consecutive year by a margin of 10 strokes over Lane Tech, Jones College Prep, Walter Payton and Linblom. These Dolphins can fly!

Students must wear their ID starting Monday, October 3.  If you did not receive your ID, go to the School Store to get one printed.  Go to the School Store by 12:55 PM on Tuesday, October 4 to rectify any ID issues.  Students without an ID on Wednesday, October 5 will need to purchase a temporary ID in the Main Office upon arrival to school.

FAFSA 101 - If you missed our sessions last week, you can view the recording in English and Spanish. Remember the (FAFSA) is now open! Start your FAFSA as soon as possible.

September 15th - October 15th is Hispanic Heritage month, but learning about Latin American history and culture is essential all year. Celebrate by learning about important past and present Latin American people who’ve shaped our country. Join Track and Field

Are you a 9th-12th grader that is interested in joining the girls/ boys track and field team? We currently have practice every week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 3:30 pm on the track. Migrant Family Donation Drive

Would you like to help families in need? Recently, without time to prepare, Chicago has received an influx of migrant families from Mexico, Central & South America. If you would like to donate items to help these families stay safe and welcomed, please bring in NEW items only from this list provided by the City of Chicago. You can turn in your items to any visual arts teacher in the Arts Building by FRIDAY, OCTOBER 7th, and they will take them to an approved drop-off station. If you would like to drop off materials yourself outside of school, you can find a list of drop-off stations here.

Crucible Wants Writers and Poets

Are you a talented writer or poet? Would you like to have your work published in a new and exciting magazine, the Crucible? You'll be put in contact with our editors, who will read your writing, talk with you about it, and consider it for our next issue of the magazine! We'd love some creative energy from the community because we know the School of Champions students are full of fantastic ideas. Chicago Marathon Volunteers Needed

Chicago Marathon Volunteers Needed!

Article Text: Let's show Chicago how Dolphins show UP! We need 75 volunteers to assist at Aid Station #11 (aka the "Whitney Young Aid Station") located on Adams and Racine next Sunday, October 9. Volunteers will assist with distributing water and Gatorade to race participants, as well as assist with the set up and clean up of the Aid Station. Bonus... you get to cheer on all the runners as they approach mile 15 of the 26.2 mile race. As a volunteer, you'll receive an official Bank of America Chicago Marathon track jacket, hat and credentials. Please register ahead of time - sorry, no walk up volunteers will be accepted - using this link and make sure you pick "Aid Station 11". The volunteer registration link will close on Monday, Oct. 3rd at midnight so register to volunteer today! Volunteer commitment is for 5:30am - 1:30pm and this event qualifies for (8) service hours. Parents, students, friends, and family are ALL welcome to volunteer to help!
