What Makes a Successful Sandler?
"Sandler"- the name is synonymous with "Virginia Beach." The Reba and Sam Sandler Center currently stands as the unofficial nucleus of Virginia Beach Town Center. And y es, Art and Steve Sandler have a myriad of businesses and the pair have proven to be highly successful, but what does the term "success" really mean? For those of us who have had the privilege of building relationships with the brothers and their companies, it is abundantly clear that kindness is a priority for them. These men measure success differently than most.  As a legacy to their parents, Art and Steve Sandler have chosen to support projects that promote tolerance and acceptance of diversity and the protection of civil rights.  They have supported us for more than a decade and have been an instrumental component behind the rapid growth of our programs, allowing us to serve more individuals with autism each year. The Sandlers are largely responsible for who we are today, and they are the reason we will continue to grow year after year.

Carpe Diem
Jahleel Gardner is quite simply one of our favorite people, and it didn't take long for him to stand out. Jahleel is one of those rare souls who epitomizes "Carpe Diem." His intrapersonal skills are remarkable- causing campers, volunteers, and staff to be easily drawn to him. Recently, Jahleel accepted a supervisory position as Head Soccer Coach in our sports program. It got us thinking about his many years of service to FACT. We reached out to ask him to describe his experience in his own words...
Jahleel doesn't simply work for summer camp, either...

"I've been volunteering and working for FACT since 6th grade (11-years-old).  The teen nights were kind of like teen nights for me also because at that age I didn't realize I was helping their social development, I was just hanging with my friends and all my buddies from camp.  Last year I received my Bachelors in Speech Language Pathology and I plan on receiving my masters in the future.  I currently work one on one with several peers and children on the spectrum, throughout Virginia Beach.  I'm also currently taking courses to receive certification as a Registered Behavioral Technician.  I'll never say my future is set in stone, but I know for a fact I will remain heavily involved in the Autistic community..."
