Tell us about yourself.
I am a performing artist that creates songs, stage shows, and events under the stage name Danielle Ate the Sandwich. I engage audiences in a creative and collaborative style that uses humor and honesty to leave those who interact with my work feeling comforted, validated, at ease and empowered.
I am primarily a folk singer/songwriter performing concerts, traveling to ukulele festivals, and creating online content. I have created and produced over 300 YouTube videos, I teach and facilitate community songwriting projects, lead a virtual course called “Life As a Songwriter,” and have released 8 full-length albums of original music.
My newest focus is creating one woman stage shows that use musical and video elements to build stories around characters that seem larger than life, but are deeply relatable to ourselves and people in our lives. My latest project, Magic of Grandmas, premiered at KC Fringe winning Best of Venue and the Dalene Bradford Prize for Innovative Theater.

What is helping you move toward thriving in your creative life right now?
Right now, having the freedom to focus more intentionally on my own creative work is helping me move toward thriving. I’m allowing myself to follow my curiosity, take on more ambitious projects, experiment with new mediums, and build work around the questions I genuinely want to explore. I’m also becoming more intentional about pursuing opportunities, resources, and relationships that support my growth as a working artist rather than simply keeping me busy.

Touring Artist and Vocal Prof Colleen Mallette has been tweaking opera and causing composers to turn ove rin their graves for more than 30 years. Ms Mallette is a classcially trained soprano who found her funny bone and the rest is history with her Lamaze School of Singing Presents: How to Birth a Song! She was introduced to HUMAN DESIGN which transformed how she got the word out to get more bookings and has performed more than 500 shows internationally.
