MN STATS

Was on what is now a monthly phone call with DEED and the Health Department last week and learned the following:

  • Being vaccinated offers 3 times the protection than being unvaccinated.
  • Being vaccinated offers 8 times the protection of having any symptoms if one does contract it.
  • Being vaccinated offers 25 times the protection of severe symptoms.
  • Last year's version of COVID - one person could infect three. The Delta variant is now 1 infecting 6 to 8.
  • The ability to spread COVID is the same whether vaccinated or not.
  • In June there were 89 people in MN hospitals with COVID. On August 19th there were 473.
  • Suggesting 3rd dose for those immunocompromised and a booster after 8 months for those who received Moderna or Pfizer. Pfizer was officially approved by the FDA on Monday.
  • Of 416,000 jobs lost from February to April in 2020, MN has gained 265,000 back. The extra unemployment benefit will end the week ending September 4th. There were 200,000 Minnesotans on that benefit. Hoping that we will see some people back in the workforce ready to work!

If you are interested in getting a vaccine at the State Fair - the first 3600 people to do so will get $100 Visa Gift Card.
LOVE, INC
GOOD MORNING BUFFALO

Was another great turnout at Good Morning Buffalo last week. Many of the attendees had never been in to the Love INC retail store downtown. Was great to see some new faces and enjoy the great spread that Love INC provided for us. See you in September at Custom Roasting!
A BANNER DAY - 38th ANNUAL ART & CRAFT FESTIVAL

Being up and at 'em at 3 a.m. was well worth it as the turn out was record breaking, the vendors were happy, the weather was cool, the volunteers amazing, and the smiles on the shoppers' faces were plenty! Suzanne and I even did a little porta pot shuffling down the street in the dark. Ask us about that sometime!
STUFFING THE BAGS! THANK YOU FOR ALL THE GOODIES!
AMBASSADORS ON THE MOVE
KNIC-KNACKERY
110 Central Ave

Always fun to visit a retail store and the Knic-Knackery did not disappoint! If you are need of a gift that is truly one of a kind, this is the place to shop. Nichola and Brad Elo work hard to source their merchandise from makers from all over - not the mass market. This makes the items unique and in my vernacular - somewhat edgy!

They also worked hard to remodel the building - hauling out over 22,000 pounds of rubble. They have maintained the look of the era and the predecessor in the building and have supported other small businesses by buying their display pieces here locally.

The name was a spoof - as Nichola is Nic for short - but she also liked to collect knic-knacks before kids came in to the picture. Now she can have the knic-knack fix in her shop, which has been open for about 2 years on Hwy 25 - just look for the light blue building with red light fixtures.

Her big sellers are bags, prints, and jewelry but you can find great greeting cards, puzzles, paint by numbers, stickers, soaps, candles and more! They also can host up to 30 people in their lower level, where you can make something as a group or host a gathering such as a bridal shower or b-day party.

Brad is also instrumental in the organization of the Cruise and Brews event happening this Saturday. It's a great opportunity to see fun cars, have a beer and find out more about the Buffalo Community and Arts Center plans. There will be popsicles and face painting for the kids too! Be sure to scan the code below for details and to pre-order your BBQ. Brad promises the brisket or pulled pork will be out of this world delicious!

CHAMBER STOP AT KJELLBERG'S CARPET ONE FLOOR & HOME

Kjellberg's has been a family owned business in Buffalo for too many years to count - but it's not old in its offerings! With the show floor newly remodeled and the displays eye catching, it's easy to want to recover all your floors at home. I know Suzanne was eyeing carpet and I am eyeing new wood for my kitchen. We were both eyeing Chad - their newest helper:)
