Your Mental Health Improved

There are some exciting changes coming to behavioral health care in 2023. This state-wide effort will add more mental health services to meet the growing need for people of all ages. With a lot of planning underway, we want you to be the first to know what’s coming. Look for updates in upcoming issues!
Do You Smoke, Or Did You Smoke?

People who smoked for many years may have early stage lung cancer that is easily treated and can be found on a screening CT scan of the lung. Diagnosing and treating lung cancer early can save your life. November is Lung Cancer Awareness month – now’s the time to schedule your lung screening. Listen to Deborah and Henrique about why they got screened and what happened after.
Get Trauma Support

More than half of people in the United States experience at least one trauma in their lives. While not everyone will suffer from PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome), trauma can impact mental health. CHA recently launched a research program for patients suffering from trauma. You are invited to contact us if you think you might benefit and see if this study could be right for you.

The Program for Alleviating and Resolving Trauma and Stress (PARTS) is for adult patients (18 - 75) that have trauma related symptoms - things like anxiety or stress. As part of the study, you will join online groups for 16 weeks to learn stress reduction skills. Each 90-minute session is offered in a safe setting where you can get support from PTSD counseling specialists.
Don’t Be the Relative Who Brings COVID/Flu This Holiday

Get Boosted! If you haven’t been vaccinated or boosted yet, now is the time. COVID-19 vaccines become less effective over time and newer variants spread easily. So protect yourself and your loved ones before the holidays.

CHA has the bivalent booster that is designed to protect you from newer variants. Research shows the new boosters can protect you against severe disease, hospitalization, and death and also decrease the risk of developing long COVID if you do get sick. If you are at least two months beyond your last shot or COVID infection, please don’t wait.

And, experts are predicting a bad flu season. Get your flu shot at the same time as your booster and have a healthy holiday season!
