“You're worth the whole damn bunch put together." is the last thing Nick Caraway says to Gatsby as the summer ends out on West Egg. As summer ends here in Brooklyn, the inverse seems to be true of 2020. However, the earth keeps spinning, the sun rises, and the planet has an estimated 5 billion years left. Give or take a millennium.
With all that in mind, we attempt to persevere in the face of a new normal. We meet via Zoom and other distance keeping measures. For instance, on Thursday, the CB6 landmarks/ land use committee has a virtual meeting. It starts at 6 pm; you register for it here, and it will feature, along with two landmark items, a presentation from Gowanus Lands on a park proposal for the city-owned site commonly referred to as “public place.”
Next, I’d like to thank the Warren Street Tenants Association for inviting me to their meeting Friday night. I also thank them for trusting me to help oversee their tenant elections this fall. It’s a great honor to be asked, and I am excited to do it.
