Vaccine and Covid 19 Update

We are approved to be a site to give out COVID-19 vaccinations! However, supplies are still limited and spotty. We won’t know until 4-7 days beforehand if we are getting any vaccine, how much, and which one for the week.

We are going to try to do vaccines on Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday afternoons. We will be doing them inside the office due to the weather, but will likely move to car side in the spring.

If you want a vaccine, please pre-register and send back the top part of the form by fax 419-872-3258 or email to wholefamily@myuodox.com and let us know if you want a text or phone call when we get some so you can schedule.

These forms will also be on our website, as well as a link to schedule online in the near future.

If you have a friend or relative who wants a vaccine they are welcome to get it here, but there is a $10 per shot charge for non-DPC members.

We have to follow Ohio Dept of Health guidelines for what group to vaccinate when. Here’s a link to their schedule. https://odh.ohio.gov/static/covid19/vaccine-providers/phase-1b-of-covid-19-vaccine-distribution.pdf

Yes, you are likely to have some side effect from the vaccine. Most all are mild. The second dose is more likely to make you feel “flu-ish” so don’t plan on doing much the day after the second shot. You are considered “immune” to this covid virus two weeks after the 2nd shot. Yes, it doesn’t always work, so we all need to keep wearing masks.

Studies are ongoing to see if you can spread covid 19 still after getting vaccinated. Theoretically, you could still get an asymptomatic case and spread it. We need to have 70% of the population to be immune before social distancing can end.

Covid Virus Mutations

Hopefully, you have heard about the more contagious variations of Covid 19. They are here and are circulating. One was detected in Ann Arbor. Don’t get covid now that we are approaching the home stretch. Try to curtail any unnecessary gathering with friends or family indoors, especially bars or restaurants where you’d have to take off your mask. Order out!

Please consider wearing a surgical mask with a cloth mask over it or two cloth masks (easier to do in the cold, at least!) Stop reusing them without washing them in between and throw out disposable masks after use. Wash hands immediately after taking masks off and have a bag or box you toss the cloth ones into after taking off (or put right in the washing machine).

I see people touching their face to adjust the mask all the time. Once you put it on and are around other people, do not touch it again except to remove it—or wash your hands immediately after touching it.

If you do get covid 19, let us know as you might qualify for getting the IV monoclonal antibody treatment to keep you out of the hospital!
