As the vaccines are being released, you may have questions. So far, the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines seem very effective and safe. Both vaccines are to be given in 2 doses about a month apart from each other. They might even provide better protection than what your own immune system gives you from actually getting COVID 19 because of the way they are designed. Dr. Host did apply with the state of Ohio to obtain 300 doses at a time.

The vaccines are being paid for by the Federal Government. We are not anticipating any costs to receive the vaccine. Additionally, we expect to be giving them out to the general public in the spring. As millions of healthcare workers will get the vaccine first, any new side effect should come out in that group. However, it is like winning a reverse lottery. Have you ever played Powerball or Mega Millions? Have you ever won? The odds of having a "bad" side effect are about those of winning the lottery, to put it in perspective.

One thing about the Pfizer vaccine that you may have heard, is that it has to be kept really cold. The state has told us that they are practicing fast cold packing it in smaller lots so we will be getting a cooler full with dry ice. We will have to give the vaccine within 5 days of receiving or it will not work. Stay tuned for more information!
