Blue Island Park District

Back To School Fair
Blue Island Park District is hosting a "Back to School Fair" on Sunday, August 18, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Field House, 12804 S. Highland Ave, Blue Island, IL. The free event provides school children and their families with school supplies and other back-to-school essentials along with on-site services, games, entertainment, food, and fun.

Here's how you can help:

Event Sponsorship: 
Become an official event sponsor, and receive recognition with company branding in all printed, digital, and social media marketing in advance and on the day of the event.

Fill The Backpack Sponsors: Gather up your staff and make it a fun, teambuilding effort to set a goal of backpacks filled with needed supplies for area children, and receive recognition with company branding on social and digital media and on the day of the event.

Host a "Fill The Backpack" Drive at Your Place of Business: Invite the public in to your place of business as a collection spot for backpack and school supply donations. Your support will be advertised in all printed, digital, and social media marketing ahead of the event, as well as creating goodwill that increases foot traffic to your business.

Feast of St. Donatus 
The 114th Annual Feast of St. Donatus continues tonight through Sunday with live entertainment, Bingo, food and drinks, carnival rides and games, and their famous pizza. Sunday features a special mass and procession through the East Side.

Open Hours at the Albee House
Blue Island Historical Society invites you to Open Hours at the Albee House. Visit and learn learn more about area history, view historic artifacts and photos, and don't forget your merch money - proceeds from your purchase support Blue Island Historical Society's ongoing education and preservation initiatives.

Friday Grill at D'Masti

Cardboard Boat Regatta
What sounds crazier than making a boat out of cardboard? Making a race out of it! Prepare for the ultimate race of champions. Competitors from around the southland will go head-to-head at Memorial Park Pool, racing in handcrafted vessels made from a shortlist of regulated materials (cardboard and duct tape). Few will taste victory, most will get wet. This event is free for Pool Pass holders but you must register in advance at the park district office.

Community Yard Sale
Shop, sell, or do both at Blue Island Park District's Community Yard Sale. Booths for selling are just $20 for residents, but you must register in person in advance at the park district office. If you're a shopper, this yard sale is set up for finding deals and delighted squeals. Parking and admission are free!

Gothic Funk Bottle Release
A long time ago, in a land not so far away, Bryan and Alan began creating a beer using ingredients unpronounceable until you take your first sip of the wild and sour Gothic Funk. Red wine and bourbon barrel-aged for three years, this bottle release is not to be missed!

Blue Cap offers a Food Pantry serving Blue Island and Robbins residents who provide a valid ID or piece of mail 
proving residency. The Food Pantry is open on Tuesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

They accept non-perishable food, toothpaste, deodorant, soap, shampoo/conditioner, shaving cream, disposable razors, toilet paper, tissue, laundry detergent, dish soap, multi-purpose cleaners, disinfectant wipes, and baby diapers and wipes.
