Why Abraham wouldn’t let the rich man in Hell warn his brothers about how to avoid Hell.

In Luke 16:19-31 , Abraham refused the rich man request to allow Lazarus to go back and warn his brothers about Hell. Abe understood that scaring people about Hell won’t give birth to faith in their heart. Abraham’s relationship with God wasn’t based on a fear of avoiding Hell but on God’s character and His promises to Abraham. Abe was declared righteous by God because Abe believed God was a good God. Fear cannot give birth to faith in a person’s heart but it will change their behavior, but only love can change their heart. The cross isn’t about behavior modification it is about changed hearts. Modified behavior isn’t the spiritual fruit of love. Modified behavior is the product of will power and self-effort whereas the fruit of love comes from living in a secure fear free relationship with God.

In April and May, I will be making a mission trip to Slovenia and Croatia. In Slovenia, an old friend who is a missionary has asked me to come and teach leaders and hold an evangelistic outreach during Easter weekend in a City Square. In Croatia, another good friend of mine who has ministered there for many years is holding an outreach into the Gypsy community and has asked me to help him teach leaders and equip the saints in those churches.

I would appreciate your prayers for the people we will be reaching and for myself. I am very excited at these open doors to share the gospel with these precious people. For years they have been raised in Atheism and today the gospel is beginning to spread across these countries. It is an exciting time to be able to share the gospel and God's love in these nations.
