Why Don’t We Finish?
1) We Run Out of Beads!
Nine times out of ten, customers usually return because they run out of beads. Unfortunately for some, the color they want has sold out! When that happens disappointment sets in and then...PANIC! What if they can’t find a color match? How will they finish their jewelry? They would need to select new colors and start all over again!
Solution: Always Buy More Than You Think You Need to Avoid Disappointment.
2) We Get Frustrated!
Another reason you might give up is because you get frustrated. Maybe the technique was a little too challenging or too advanced for you at the time or maybe the instructor didn’t have clear instructions.
Make sure you take the time to learn the basics before you move onto more advanced techniques. It is certainly tempting to skip ahead...but you will definitely pay for skimping on the basics.
3) We Get Bored!
I have this problem. You're working on one piece and then you see another shiny new project that seems more interesting...so you move ahead before you're finished the old project.
Solution: Set a rule for yourself that you don’t move on before you finish the project you started...however, if you’re a seasoned beader you can easily be working on 1 or 3 projects at a time with no problem.
How to Finish Unfinished Projects...
1) The number one thing I do is to set the unfinished project on the edge of my desk. I have to walk past it multiple times a day. I get so sick of seeing it that I pick it up and get it done!
2) When the Joy and Excitement of the project decreases, discipline comes in (or it should)! Find a time that fits into your busy schedule and enjoy what you love the most...beading! I usually bead between 7:00-10:00 p.m. when the family is unwinding and watching tv.
3) Cut It Up! This seems a little hasty...buy, hey...if it’s been sitting around for over a year then you need to take drastic measures! Cut the project apart and use the beads for another project. Let it GO!
4) Stop by Midwest Beads. Yes, sit down at one of our worktables and finish it! You will be away from household chores and will be able to focus on the project at hand. You will have access to all the necessary tools & findings plus you will have free consultation and help from our beading experts.
