Why Suffering? Are Jesus and His church worth suffering for? This isn't a question we may be asking about the Church but maybe it's the most important question we should be asking.
Being a part of the Church by following Jesus will require us to sacrifice and suffer. But why? We suffer for the things we love and care for the most because we know the outcome is worth it. For example, we suffer to get good meat in our fridge when we go hunting; or we suffer in relationships because that hard work pays big dividends in loyalty and love.
When Jesus speaks to His disciples in Matthew 24:3-14, He is warning His disciples about suffering that will happen because they represent Him. Jesus shows them how to suffer well by being on guard, persevering, and keeping focused on the mission. When we suffer well, we are given the promise, "But the one who endures to the end will be saved."
