Spotlight on Success: October 2, 2021
As we return to school each fall, we strive to ensure that programs are available to support parents, students, and teachers throughout the school year. These vital programs are made possible because of YOU! We need your help and ask that you Step Up for Kids by donating today! Our goal is to raise $214,000! We are now at 57% of our Fall Campaign goal!

Since 1987, the community has empowered the Issaquah Schools Foundation to fund programs and resources for students and teachers across our district including every school, every child - including all 26 schools! Please consider making a one-time donation or a monthly pledge to the Foundation. Monthly pledges start at just $5/month!

We depend on support from parents and businesses in the community to help our students and provide these vital programs and resources:

·        Classroom enrichment and big idea grants to teachers
·        Support to STEM and robotics clubs
·        Cultural Bridges community outreach & magazines in seven languages
·        Speakers and workshops for parents and students
·        Student Academic Grants for tutoring & academic support services
·        Fine Arts support including band, orchestra, performing arts
·       And so much more!

Monster Mash 5K - Spirited and Safe
Saturday, October 30, 2021 - 9 AM
Lake Sammamish State Park Boat Launch/East Lake Sammamish Trail
Registrations are rolling in for the Monster Mash 5K! With 4 weeks to go, we have already reached 50% capacity! To comply with King County Covid-19 safety recommendations and restrictions, space is limited for this event. Since we are carefully monitoring our numbers, this participant-only race is unable to welcome unregistered spectators at this time. All persons arriving at the Monster Mash 5K should be able to show proof of registration.

So… don’t delay, REGISTER TODAY – after October 10th, prices increase and delivery of race swag is delayed. Have more questions?  We’ve got answers! Learn more about our event by visiting our FAQ page.
Cultural Bridges Number 19 is Here

Thank You, Safeway Shoppers
Thank you for your generosity while grocery shopping this month! 100% of all your donations made at the register during the month of September at Issaquah Highlands, Gilman, and Sammamish Safeway stores will be granted to the Issaquah Schools Foundation for the purpose of providing in-school breakfast options for students.

While final numbers will be released to us in the coming months, we’d like to take this opportunity to thank you and Safeway’s Nourishing Neighbors program for fueling a successful start to the day for our students!
ParentWiser - Parent Education Events
Building Resilience and Positive Coping Skills

During a pandemic, when many things are outside of our control, it’s what we do as parents with what we can control that will shape our children into cool, kind kids with character.

Join nationally recognized author and speaker Dr. Laura Kastner for a discussion about strategies to help our children, our partners and ourselves find calm in the chaos. Drawing upon research-based best practices from her years of clinical practice and from her best-selling “Getting to Calm” book series, Dr. Kastner will share expert tips and tools to manage the pressures and opportunities of parenting during a crisis.

ParentWiser in a non-profit funded through a partnership with the Issaquah Schools Foundation, PTSA Council, Swedish Medical Center, and Overlake Medical Center & Clinics.  Register and find more information on upcoming events here.
Boeing Supports Mental Health and Wellness
We are thankful for the opportunity to partner with Boeing, who has awarded the Issaquah Schools Foundation a $5,000 grant to fund programs and resources for student mental health and wellness support. By funding professional development for ISD counseling teams and staff in the areas of suicide prevention, multi-tiered systems of support, and equity and race topics, the Foundation strives to equip those closest to our students with the necessary training to identify at-risk students, properly assess the primary issues to be addressed, and develop an individualized approach to support in response.

Our Partnership with the PTSA for programs such as ParentWiser, also provides funding to bring the latest research and educational information into the homes of our student families to support parents in raising thriving individuals. Read more about Boeing’s commitment to supporting student mental health and wellness HERE.
Dining for Kids Update
We miss seeing you the 1st Wednesday of each month! Thank you for your patience as we remain in limbo with our Dining for Kids program. Over the past year, significant capacity restrictions and staffing shortages have made it particularly challenging to build out our Dining for Kids calendar.

Our hope is that as things stabilize for our restaurant partners, we’ll be seeing you again on Wednesdays. Meanwhile, please continue to support those partners who have supported the Foundation throughout the years! Stay tuned for updates!
