Dear Friends,

This Thanksgiving week, we are grateful for so much, including...

1) The Return to In-Person, Group Programming. It is such a delight to see our elementary and middle school students weekly during our after-school program (in partnership with Annapolis Maritime Museum & Park and their Box of Rain program). We've created care packages for others, visited the new Busch Library, had a scavenger hunt, and made s'mores, and so much more.

2) Our Amazing Donors and Supporters. We could not do the critical work of investing in young people without your generous donations and grants. Most recently, you helped us raise $6,660 through our fall campaign (8 new donors committed to a total of $335 monthly and 23 additional doors gave $2,640). The Sprague family hosted our first Charting Careers Friendraising Event in the Fishing Creek Farm neighborhood. This was meaningful, successful, and fun! Please stay tuned for more of these Friendraising events.

3) Our Incredible Scholars, Families, Staff, Board, Volunteers, and Partners. There is so much behind the scenes work that goes into making our programming happen: scholars and families who have trusted us to be on this journey together, staff members who are truly dedicated to our scholars and their families, numerous board members who volunteer over 10+ hours a week, mentors who persist with mentoring despite COVID and other challenges, and our many partners who share their spaces, talents, and resources with us.

We are so grateful for this community and our Charting Careers family and wish you a beautiful Thanksgiving.

With gratitude,
Erin Snell, PhD

Community Navigation Specialists-- funded through AACPS's Office of Equity and selected, trained, and supported in partnership with People Builders Consulting and Newtowne CDC-- are working hard connecting young people and their families with opportunities and resources and building their community hubs. Our Community Navigation Specialists are committed to helping transform families, thus transforming communities!

Thank you to Eastport United Methodist Church for generously sharing your space with us for our meetings.
Congratulations to Leon Thomas, III, Charting Careers Director of College and Career Readiness, who has accepted a full time position at Anne Arundel Community College (AACC). This is his last week working with us. We are very grateful for his service to our scholars, their families, and our organization. We will miss having him on our team! We wish Leon the very best and plan to see him on campus during college visits. Pictured here, Leon is leading a group of our scholars during an October 2021 visit to AACC.
When considering where to give this Giving Tuesday, please check out our GOLD Transparency rating on Guidestar. We are very proud to share that over 94% of our July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2020 budget went into PROGRAMMING versus administrative or fundraising costs (as shown on our IRS 990 filing)!
We had a fun night at the Annapolis premiere of King Richard! We thank Filmsters and Annapolis Trust for this opportunity.
THE NEXT MENTOR ORIENTATION SESSION IS COMING SOON!
Mentoring involves 5-10 hours a month of volunteerism. Charting Careers partners with mentors to ensure scholars are supported by our community. Please sign up here to find out more or email our Mentor Coordinator, Linda Mundy, for instructions on how to join this virtual informational session.

* Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) male mentors and Spanish-speaking mentors are especially needed at this time*
Charting Careers is deeply grateful to have received a grant (for a third year in a row!) from Crescent Cities Charities. This year, Crescent Cities Charities is supporting our Goal Fund program, which covers costs associated with scholars and families pursuing their goals, as well as providing support for awards at our Scholarship & Awards Night later this school year.
Thank You to Our Grantors and Corporate Sponsors
