A Tribute to
Dr. Norman M. Rich, FACS, DMCC, MC
From the entire VEITHsymposium organization, we pay tribute to Dr. Norman M. Rich, a distinguished retired U.S. Army Colonel and a world‑renowned pioneer in military and battlefield vascular surgery.
His recent passing is a profound loss to our community and to the field he helped shape.
Dr. Rich devoted more than five decades to advancing vascular surgery with unwavering dedication, compassion, and brilliance. His groundbreaking innovations dramatically reduced limb amputations and combat‑related mortality, forever transforming the global standards for treating traumatic vascular injuries. His work not only saved lives but redefined what was possible.
Beyond his extraordinary professional achievements, Dr. Rich was a cherished member of the VEITHsymposium faculty. His wisdom, generosity of spirit, and steadfast commitment to education enriched our program year after year.
His presence was a gift, and his absence will be deeply felt. We honor his legacy with gratitude and respect.
