Students at Work: Internship Spotlight
Robert Nolen
Robert Nolen is a senior majoring in finance and works as a CUPID Accelerate Program intern/consultant at Citi. Nolen's responsibilities include developing market landscapes and POV’s on emerging trends, managing related research and activities across various Citi businesses/functions, among other tasks.

“To be able to intern for such a successful and innovative bank like Citi has been life changing. The skills, knowledge and connections that I have received and established will stick with me throughout the rest of my professional career. Despite the internship being completely virtual, my managers have not only successfully transitioned the program to provide a great learning experience completely online, but they also established a welcoming, friendly and positive community for new recruits. Citi is taking innovation to another level and I am honored to be part of the experience.”

Jan Hanousek – Following in his Dad’s Footsteps
Jan Hanousek is a second-year PhD student studying finance. He moved to Florida from the Czech Republic to attend USF. His interest in finance runs in the family, as Hanousek’s father is a professor of finance as well. In fact, Hanousek first became aware of USF when one of his father's colleagues gave him a USF T-shirt when he was younger.

Not only is Hanousek following his father’s career path, but he also conducts research alongside him. They are currently working several papers together regarding ownership structures, private and public firms.

“I have a really good relationship with my father, we are best friends,” Hanousek said. “I have someone I can discuss basically anything with.”

Alumni Spotlight – Darin Ostrowski
Darin Ostrowski, Kopernik Global Investors, LLC.
Darin Ostrowski enrolled at USF in 2016 after serving two years in the U.S. Army. He majored in finance with a concentration in asset management and took part in the Applied Security Analysis Program as well as the Student Finance Association.

“The ASA course was by far the most applicable to real-world experience that you can get in any college setting,” Ostrowski said. “The same research I do now in my job, we did in that class.”

Ostrowski credits landing his job to ASA because he first encountered Kopernik Global Investors after he delivered a Student Managed Investment Fund pitch. He remained in contact with the firm after the pitch and the company later offered him a position.
