STATIC CONTROL FLOORING
Why cannabis labs need ESD flooring
SelecTech launched a cannabis lab division last fall. The reason for the special division has to do with the particular needs of a cannabis lab. Those needs can include static control, thus warranting ESD flooring.

A cannabis lab can contain a number of combustible chemicals. When you consider the amount of static electricity a human being can generate by walking across the floor—up to 3,000 volts—you have a potential hazard on your hands unless you have some sort of mitigation. ESD flooring can greatly reduce static electricity in the lab.

Then, there’s the additional factor of electronic components in a cannabis lab. While those might not necessarily be as much at risk as electronics in other types of labs, the static control from ESD flooring does provide an additional safety measure.

If you operate a cannabis lab or are planning to open one and wonder if it requires ESD flooring, please give us a call at 508-583-3200. For more background on our cannabis lab division, click the button below.

Automotive and Transportation
The use of electronics in the automotive industry is expanding at a tremendous rate as new systems are being added annually. These systems have to function properly to meet comfort and safety requirements, all while working in a mobile environment that is subjected to more stress than a typical electronic device. Failures in devices can have far-reaching impacts. Having a reliable ESD Protected Area (EPA) is critical and often required by the end-users of the products being made.
