Glencoe’s Writers Theater has canceled its contract with New Trier Neighbors to host our November 13 event about gender dysphoria. The event will now be held on November 13 at the Wilmette Library. Tickets available here.
Drs. Michael Bailey and Lisa Littman are familiar with being canceled. Each has dealt with controversy: Dr. Bailey’s paper in the Archives of Sexual Behavior earlier this year was retracted because it suggested that a social component may partially explain the recent explosion in gender dysphoria among adolescent girls. (Recall the 4000% increase in cases we referenced last week.) Dr. Littman was run off Brown University’s campus for identifying the trend in 2018.
New Trier Neighbors had secured the Writers Theater nearly two weeks ago via a contract that had been in process for several weeks. We were excited because it’s a large venue for an important discussion which we made open to the public.
Yet on the day New Trier Neighbors started promoting the event, Writers Theater canceled our reservation for the event because they claimed they had an internal board event already scheduled that evening that had been “left off the calendar.”
After we asked for another date, Writers Theater indicated it was not taking any other bookings at this time.
The event will now be held on November 13 at the Wilmette Library. Tickets available here.
Dr. Bailey, a Northwestern University professor, and Dr. Littman, a former Brown University public health researcher, have each studied gender dysphoria and will discuss their research and the questions that need to be further explored.
Many area schools now have pronoun policies. Lurie’s Children’s Hospital Gender and Sex Development staff conduct teacher trainings at many area schools. Federal changes to Title IX rules to include the tenets of gender theory are being reviewed by the Department of Education. There’s never been a more relevant time for a discussion on gender dysphoria.
The Wilmette Library venue is smaller, so get your tickets soon!
