GLC - - - Connects!
February 20, 2020
We have kind of a good news/bad news scenario this weekend. Peter realizes Jesus is the Messiah! Then Jesus tells them that it may not mean what they think it means. Then Peter wants to help and Jesus rebukes him. The whole thing ends with Jesus on a mountaintop with Moses and Elijah- exactly where we expect Him to be. It seems to mirror our lives in following Jesus, doesn't it?  Mighty God, help us to follow You, through ups and downs and twists and turns. It is such a comfort to know You are with us. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Jesus On the Mountain Peak" text by prolific hymn writer, Brian Wren is set to BETHOLD, composed by Mark Sedio. In this hymn we proclaim the story of Jesus' mountain top experience in his transfiguration. We gladly sing "Alleluia" around this story as soon our "Alleluias" are put away during the season of Lent.
In June of 2018 while refinancing the church mortgage, we took additional capital for a host of projects. Many of the projects were reported in the Annual Report in September, but a few more are now complete.  All flooring is complete!  New chairs in Fellowship Hall and the Chapel and new tables for Fellowship Hall have been purchased! Careful management of the funds has allowed us to do some extra projects: a new water fountain in the Narthex, new flooring in the elevator and north upstairs bathroom AND the fluorescent lights in the sanctuary have all been replaced making our entire building lit by energy efficient LED lighting ! We will also be purchasing new rectangular tables to replace the well-used tables we currently have.

There are outstanding projects in the sanctuary, for which $25,000 has been set aside. A team is being formed to consider the renovation as a whole; flooring and pew refinishing. We have not yet pursued a new refrigerator or stove for the Fellowship Hall kitchen.
