Hello:

As you being to settle into the routine of 2024, I want to encourage you to stay with that New Year’s Resolution, especially if it involves a lifestyle improvement such as exercise.

In today’s news, we’ve shared an inspirational story. May it serve as an example of what a “can do” attitude really can do.

Regular readers know that I repeatedly promote “4 Pillars of Health,” because the strategy is applicable to every sickness dilemma and wellness goal today. The topic of our featured article is no exception.

For those of you who feel as if your exercise routine hasn’t been getting you anything other than tired, you will benefit from this information, which considers additional aspects of what your body needs.

Please continue to do yourself the favor and keep moving. As the momentum towards your wellness goal builds, so too will the ease with which you can take on other lifestyle improvements. You can do it.

We’re here to help,

Enhancing Circulation

There's more to it than just exercise.

by Dr. Pfeiffer

We all know that exercise is good for us in many ways. Exercise, as my father used to say, “gets your juices flowing.” That certainly was a colorful way to say that exercise enhances blood flow to your extremities, your brain, and increases oxygen flow to all of your tissues. Yes, exercise improves circulation and overall cardiovascular function.

Conversely, a lack of exercise can cause your muscles to shorten, atrophy (wasting of muscle tissue), and reduced capillary flow, which in turn can cause nerve damage resulting in neuropathy symptoms.

But exercise alone may not be enough to take care of circulation issues.

St. Patty’s Barbell Bash

by Jean Kowalski

Last spring, I participated in my first weightlifting competition! The name of the competition was St. Patty’s Barbell Bash. Sounds like fun? It was!

I had read quite a bit that weightlifting is good for maintaining bone density. That was the main reason I began weightlifting when I was 79. I am now 83 years old and have been lifting regularly for the past 4 years.

It was an exciting experience. I was part of a team of 7 women with ages between 57 and 83. There were 120 contestants in the competition. As you can imagine, we were over twice–or even 3 or 4 times–older than most of the other lifters! I was concerned about whether this group of older women would be welcomed by the rest of the contestants. Their response was quite to the contrary: everyone in the competition welcomed us and cheered us on! That was very inspiring.

My team did well in the competition and several of us set state or national records for our individual age and weight classes. There is an obvious reason why: not many people our age lift weights. I set state and national records for both the bench press and deadlift categories, proving perhaps why very few 80+ ladies participate in the event.

Jean Kowalski, weightlifter.

It was an exciting and very positive experience, and I am signed up for another competition soon.

Weightlifting has become an important part of my fitness routine. However, an important aspect of lifting is that it must be done under proper supervision. Weightlifting is good for our bones, but it can also be a source of injuries if not done under the watchful eye of a knowledgeable coach.

I’m happy that I started lifting weights, and I wish I had started at an earlier age!

Jean K.

After more than 14 years, we’ve changed the name of “The Cleanse.”

The Crave Clinic is the same “Cleanse Program” Dr. Pfeiffer developed and used to help hundreds of patients for more than a decade. Its identity has been revitalized to better depict its many additional aspects beyond detoxification. All of Dr. Pfeiffer’s Four Pillars of Health that are addressed in his book, Longer Healthier Life, are expanded upon in this program: Eat Right; Sleep Right; Move Right; and Think Right.

Dr. Pfeiffer’s Crave Clinic is a time-honored, goal-oriented program that aims to achieve longterm health and wellness through a 21-day, full-system detoxification along with the guidance and support you need to create the lifestyle you crave.
