If you had the pleasure of hearing Jason Jennings speak at our Virginia Air Contractor Meeting in November you may remember a point he made regarding one of the secrets to building a successful culture: You must always be growing. Why?
- Growing indicates you are successful which says you are winning and everyone likes to be on the winning team.
- What is the number #1 thing that employee’s want? To make more money! If you are growing you will always have opportunities for advancement which means they can make more money.
- What is your # 1 problem as a business owner? Finding, attracting and hiring people! A growing, changing company that is successful attracts the right people naturally.
In a recent article published in The ACHR News Matt Michel published the 24 Truths of Successful HVAC Contractors (Full link below). Here are 2 truths related to growing and change that made the TOP 10.
#6 - Anything not growing is stagnating or dying. This applies to businesses but starts with people. Thus, business growth is a reflection of the people at the top of the organization. When they seek personal growth, an inevitable outcome is business growth.
#7 - When the industry and marketplace change, good contractors change with them. Avoid complacency. It is carbon monoxide for businesses. It makes companies sick, then kills them. Constantly challenge the way things are done today because that may not be the way they are done in the future.
Growth and change are the keys to solving several of the challenges we face daily.
Make everyday a new day where you are better today than yesterday!
Thanks for all you do and as always “Expect More From Us”!
