The Red Angus Association of America is hosting an educational session in conjunction with a tour of the new Sustainable Beef packing plant in North Platte, Nebraska, on Dec. 10, 2024.
Starting at 9 a.m. CST, Mark Nelson, director of cattle procurement for Sustainable Beef, LLC, Tom Brink, RAAA CEO, and Kelly Smith, RAAA director of commercial marketing, will provide an educational overview of the relationship between Sustainable Beef and RAAA. The presentation will include an overview of the new Sustainable Beef fed cattle marketing grid, which will favorably reward qualified cattle that reach upper 2/3 choice, regardless of hide color.
At approximately 10:15 a.m., the plant tour will begin. The Sustainable Beef plant is still under construction, with a target open date of April or May of 2025. Therefore, the tour offers a unique opportunity to see a brand-new cattle processing facility with all its innovative features before the plant begins operation. This tour is sure to be of interest to Red Angus cattle producers, whether they've toured other packing facilities or not.
RSVPs are not required but are appreciated. Contact Kelly Smith at 417-855-9461 or kelly@redangus.org, with questions or to RSVP.
