Amazon To Pay $2.5 Billion for this “Prime” Faux Pas 


Amazon has agreed to pay a record $2.5 billion to settle a Federal Trade Commission lawsuit accusing it of deceiving consumers into enrolling in its Prime membership and making cancellations difficult. The deal, comprising a $1 billion civil penalty and $1.5 billion in customer refunds, marks the largest FTC civil penalty to date. While Amazon admitted no wrongdoing, it must now simplify its signup and cancellation processes and ensure clearer disclosures. Moral of the story: don’t fall for “subscription traps.”!
