Weekly Wisdom

Real conversations. For people who sell.

More leads isn't the answer. Better conversations are.

Every time a client tells me their trade show “went okay,”

I know what’s coming.

They got foot traffic.

They had some good convos.

They collected a bunch of cards.

But 3 weeks later, no pipeline movement.

No real follow-up.

No closed business.

The reason?

They went in with a booth strategy, not a discovery strategy.

INSIGHT:

Most teams treat trade shows like marketing events.

But if you’re in field sales it’s a live selling environment.

That means you need to:

  • Map your discovery flow in advance
  • Customize it by vertical and buyer role
  • Know what disqualifies fast
  • And stop treating every conversation like a lead

Just because someone scans their badge

doesn’t mean they’re a buyer.

And just because they stop at your booth

doesn’t mean they have a problem you solve.

ACTION STEP:

Before your next show, ask your team this:

“What does a qualified conversation actually sound like?”

Not a pitch.

Not a demo.

A real, relevant discovery moment.

Write it down. Practice it. Make it second nature.

If you’re heading into a fall trade show season and your team still winging it, let’s fix that.

The BELIEF Selling™ assessment can uncover the blind spots that are costing you conversions.
