Final stretch for the Wild Ride!
With just two weeks left until the 2024 Wild Ride campaign wraps up on October 14, we need your help to make this year's event a success! As we mark 65 years of standing alongside refugees and internally displaced people, we're aiming to raise $65,000. We're off to a great start, having already reached nearly 50% of our goal, but we need more participants to help us cross the finish line.
Every dollar raised and every kilometre walked or cycled directly supports those who are displaced. Together, we can make a difference!

PWRDF and Fight for Right bring warmth to Ukrainians with disabilities
Amidst the devastation of war in Ukraine, Mikhailo, living with a disability, is fighting for survival in Kherson. Despite hardship, he remains resilient, but winter brings even greater challenges. His pension barely covers his needs, and job opportunities are scarce. In response, PWRDF partnered with Fight for Right, providing a grant to support people with disabilities affected by the conflict. The funding helped establish a 24-hour hotline, evacuation services, and essential supplies. Through the project, Mikhailo received a heater, thermos, and solar-powered lantern, helping him and 750 other families face winter’s harsh realities.

Killa Raymi Festival and Indigenous midwifery honour life in Ecuador
Killa Raymi, the Festival of the Moon (Sept 21-23), celebrates the end of harvest and beginning of a new agricultural cycle in the Andean world. This vibrant celebration honors the feminine, symbolized by the earth and moon, reflecting its connection to fertility and the essential roles women play in agriculture. The festival highlights the intricate relationship between spirituality, environment, and knowledge practices, mirroring Indigenous midwifery's holistic approach to maternal health.

ADSE and PWRDF are transforming communities in Kenya with goats
In Tanzania's Nyarugusu Refugee Camp, a sustainable harvest project, supported by PWRDF and implemented by Church World Service, is transforming lives. Through training in sustainable vegetable farming, refugees like Asumani Ibocwa and his wife, Nadia Faida, have not only improved their family's nutrition and income but also emerged as community leaders. The project promotes gender equality, environmental sustainability and self-reliance, with lasting impacts on the entire refugee community.

Learning Module 3.1 webinar
| |
|
In the third and final year of PWRDF's Creation Care: Climate Action Education Focus, we are examining the intersections of climate change and health; how planetary and ecosystem health directly affect human health. Learning Module 3.1 focuses on the Communion Forest initiative of the worldwide Anglican Communion, and other initiatives of PWRDF partners to create a Health Planet, Healthy People. This webinar will walk through the resource to enable you to use it individually or in a group.
Through the Anglican Communion and the ACT Alliance, PWRDF engages in the international, ecumenical Season of Creation from September 1 to October 4. In Paul’s letter to the Romans, he compares the Earth to a Mother groaning as in childbirth (Romans 8:22). Francis of Assisi understood this when he referred to the Earth as our sister and our mother in his Canticle of Creatures. The times we live in show that we are not relating to the Earth as a gift from our Creator, but rather as a resource to be used. And yet, there is hope and the expectation for a better future.
