ENROLLING NOW!

March 22 - May 23, 2022
Turn the canyons and rivers of the Colorado Plateau into your spring semester classrooms! Students on WRFI's Colorado Plateau: Desert Canyons & Cultures course get to spend two months exploring the landscapes and watersheds of the desert southwest while learning about cultural and ecological resilience in a region of extremes.
As they learn about Indigenous knowledge and history, desert ecology, and the various ways that human and ecological communities continue to adapt in these evolving landscapes, students on this course earn an entire semester's worth of upper division credits in:

  • Native American Studies
  • Natural Resource Science & Management
  • Environmental Studies
  • Geography

We take textbooks and we add hiking boots, canoes, dinosaur tracks, and conversations with real people into the mix. Apply today for a different kind of college experience, and get ready for the semester of a lifetime with WRFI.
JOIN US FOR AN ONLINE INFO SESSION!
Know anyone interested in learning more about WRFI? We'll be hosting weekly virtual information sessions until the end of fall semester! Anyone--from anywhere!--is welcome to attend. These are great opportunities to meet WRFI staff and alumni, hear stories from the field, and ask questions about how students can make WRFI a part of their college plan.

GIVING TUESDAY is right around the corner!
We're fast approaching this year's season of giving, and we hope you'll keep WRFI in your thoughts as you contemplate contributions you might like to make this year. As a very small nonprofit organization, we rely on the generosity of donors to keep our course tuition reasonable for students and to provide scholarships for those in need. Your contribution will:

  • increase access for more students to have experiential learning opportunities with WRFI through scholarships and gear loans
  • help WRFI to build up a new scholarship fund for BIPOC students, increasing equity in access to outdoor education opportunities
  • keep WRFI's operations afloat during our off-season
  • support WRFI's ongoing legacy of place-based education in the Rocky Mountain West
