Measure Q - Local Education Funding Renewal Measure
Measure Q is a proposal on the upcoming ballot to renew an existing parcel tax that has provided vital funding for our local public schools for over two decades. If passed, Measure Q would maintain the current tax rate without increasing taxes. This funding supports the retention of highly qualified teachers, academic programs in core subjects like science and math, and technical/vocational training to prepare students for college and careers. An independent citizens' oversight committee and annual audits ensure the funds are used efficiently and effectively, and seniors and individuals with disabilities are exempt from the tax. For more information, go here.
We need your support for our students! Please consider signing up for a canvas walk area to spread the word in our neighborhoods. It only takes a couple of hours of your time but makes a lasting effect for our kids!

SRVUSD College and Career Fair
Wednesday, October 23, 2024 6:00-8:00pm
Dougherty Valley High School
10550 Albion Rd. San Ramon, CA 94582
The SRVUSD College and Career Fair is designed to educate students about the many post high school opportunities available to them. Representatives from four-year universities, two-year colleges, trade schools, and military will be available in a large, open gym format.
We are also partnering with Strive Scan to help make your experience more
organized and enjoyable. When a college rep scans your barcode, the software automatically tracks what schools you have interacted with, creating a list for you and adding you to the rep’s list of people to receive information from their school.
THINGS TO KNOW
Because of the popularity of this event,
we are asking families to please adhere
to the following guidelines
● LIMIT ATTENDEES: In the past, this event has attracted very large crowds.
Because of fire codes, and general safety, we are asking that only one Adult
per family attend the event with the student. This will help ensure a
meaningful and worthwhile event for all!
Please note that an event of this size is not a child-friendly environment. Safety
is the priority with large crowds.
● CARPOOL: Parking is VERY limited at DVHS. Please consider carpooling!
SET YOUR EXPECTATIONS: This is an information gathering event. This is
not an event to ask very specific questions about your particular academic
situation. Expect short and to the point student-driven interactions with the
Reps.
● HAVE A STRATEGY: Again, this is an informational event. Visit the schools that
have shorter lines or that you have never heard of. There are SO many great
schools out there! Make it a goal to gather information from a variety of
schools. decide which schools you want to visit, note them on the map and
plan what question you want to ask before the fair.
The SRVUSD College Fair is coordinated annually through the combined efforts of the four San Ramon Valley Unified School District high schools with support from their Academic Boosters organizations.

2024 National Red Ribbon Week
Introducing the 2024 National Red Ribbon Week Theme: "Life is a Movie, Film Drug Free."
Red Ribbon Week, celebrated annually from October 23-31,2024, is the nation's oldest and largest drug prevention awareness campaign. It was established to honor the memory of Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Special Agent Enrique "Kiki" Camarena, who, in 1985, was tragically tortured and killed by drug traffickers he was investigating in Mexico. In response to his death, Camarena's high school friend, Henry Lozano, and Congressman Duncan Hunter founded "Camarena Clubs" where members wore red ribbons to signify their stand against drugs.
This movement grew, and in 1988, the National Family Partnership (NFP) coordinated the first National Red Ribbon Week, with President Ronald Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan serving as honorary chairpersons. Today, Red Ribbon Week is recognized nationwide. The red ribbon symbolizes a collective pledge to live drug-free and serves as a tribute to those who have sacrificed their lives in the fight against illegal drugs.
Families, schools, and communities come together each year to raise awareness about the importance of a drug-free lifestyle. It's a perfect time to talk to children about the dangers of drugs and to encourage healthy, drug-free choices.
Celebrate Red Ribbon Week to promote a brighter, drug-free future.

Unauthorized bike & scooter parking on campus
We have observed an increasing number of students parking their bikes and scooters in unauthorized areas, including stairwells, doorways, and railings. This creates serious safety hazards and cannot continue. Effective Monday, September 16, bikes and scooters must be parked in one of the two designated areas:
- Between the 4000 Building and the CTE Building, along the back road
- Between the Main Gym and the Auxiliary Gym.
Parking bikes or scooters on hand railings, pillars, or in front of doors is strictly prohibited. This practice obstructs emergency exits, creating a violation that can be flagged by fire inspectors, and compromises the safety of our entire school community. Failure to do so will result in the removal of the bike and a conversation with an administrator.
Please note that DVHS is not responsible for lost or stolen bikes or scooters. Your cooperation is critical in maintaining a safe and accessible environment for everyone.

Student permits required to park at DVHS

DVHS Athletic Booster
4-25 AthleticBooster Boa

Few weeks ago, DVHS Athletic Boosters sent out an urgent communication about the state of donations for our fall teams and what that means. Thank you to those of you who donated but we are still far below our fall sports operating budget. If you haven’t donated yet, please do so now. Click here to donate. If you want to better understand your sport team’s budget and how your donations help, reach out to your team parent or email us at dvhighab@gmail.com.
Dear Dougherty Valley High School Athletics Fall Parents,
We hope this letter finds you well.
As a Boosters organization, we are writing to express our deep concern about a significant decline in donations to our fall athletics programs. Our fall sports programs encompass 10 sports and over 374 student-athletes, with an operating budget of $181K. Currently, we are only 46% funded and have a current shortfall of approximately $98K. This decline poses a serious threat to the continued success and sustainability of our beloved fall sports teams.
Your generous contributions are essential to providing our student-athletes with the necessary resources to not only compete at a high level but also to ensure the continued existence of our programs. Aside from the Head Coach, which is covered by the district, all other costs must be covered by parent donations. These funds support equipment purchases, facility use, League Fees, assistant coaching salaries, and more. Without your support, we risk having to cut back on programs or even eliminate them entirely.
We understand that everyone's financial situation is different, but even small donations can make a big impact. Your support will help ensure that our student-athletes have the opportunity to develop their skills, learn important life lessons, and create lasting memories.
Please consider making a donation to our fall athletics programs today. Your generosity will help us maintain the quality of our sports offerings and provide our students with a positive and enriching experience.
Team Donations can be made HERE
Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Art Mimnaugh
President, Dougherty Valley High School Athletic Boosters
Fall Sport Donations: Congratulations to Women’s Golf, and Men’s Water Polo hitting their 75% goal. Any program that hits the 75% of their budget category will receive a bonus of $500 from Athletic Boosters.

SRVUSD TECHNOLOGY UPDATES
This school year, aligned with our lost/damaged textbook policy, students/families will be held financially responsible for the repair/replacement cost for physical damage to a device, or the loss of a device, whether accidental or purposeful. Families are not responsible for normal wear and tear of devices. For any families who encounter a situation where their student’s device has been physically damaged or lost, who are concerned about this being a financial burden, they should speak directly with their school. We encourage you to review this Technology One-Pager for more information and links to additional resources.
