Transactional Team Victory

We have exciting news out of Los Angeles: our Transactional LawMeet team is headed to nationals.

Professor William Sjostrom reports that the trio of Jordan Hartman ('17), Margo Casselman ('17), and Storm Byrd ('17) (pictured l-r) were victorious at Region 3 of the 8th Annual Transactional LawMeet.

Twelve teams participated in the regional meet, held February 24 at UCLA School of Law.

In recognition of their contract-drafting and negotiation skills, Arizona Law's team is  one of two teams from Region 3 now advancing to the national competition to be held at Sullivan & Cromwell in New York City on March 31.

A huge thank you goes to team coach Will Pew ('14).

Congratulations to our students, and we wish them the best as they bear down at the national competition!

PLSI Supports Arizona Law Student Experiences at ABA Clerkship Workshop

Last week we shared news of two Arizona Law students who participated in the ABA Judicial Clerkship Program at the mid-year meeting in Miami, Florida.

The funding for Joab A Maestas ('18) and Lisa Wrazidlo ('17), pictured here with the Honorable Margarita Bernal (retired, '79), to attend the program came from the American Indian Law Center's Pre-Law Summer Institute ( PLSI) for American Indians and Alaska Natives.
We appreciate all of the support and work of PLSI, and the wonderful students -- like Joab and Lisa -- it has brought to Arizona Law over the years.

Attend Launch of the Arizona Public Patent Program
When:  Thursday, March 23, 2017,  4 p.m. Pre-launch Info and Networking Sessions,  5-7 p.m. Launch and Reception
Where:  UA  James E. Rogers College of Law,  1201 E. Speedway Blvd.,  Tucson, AZ 85721
The Arizona Public Patent Program is a statewide program offered by the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law IP & Entrepreneurship Clinic, with the assistance of the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO).
The program is designed to help financially under-resourced independent inventors, small businesses and startup companies obtain free legal counsel from local patent attorneys in filing patent applications and protecting their innovations. Local innovation strengthens our local economy, and this program helps to ensure that Arizona's inventors have the legal protections they need to thrive.
Invited, but not yet confirmed, are representatives from our state and federal government, representatives from the USPTO, investors, inventors, and leaders from the legal and startup communities.
The launch is especially geared toward inventors, patent attorneys, and students of IP law.
This event is open to the public, and there is no cost to attend.
Questions? Email Bernadette Wilkinson or phone her at 520-626-1629.

Please join us this Friday at the College of Law for our annual LCA Awards Ceremony to celebrate wonderful alumni and a great legal services organization.
Join us next week if you can in Las Vegas.
And join us any time in our hallways and classrooms, in person when you can, and always in spirit.
