A collection of 45 poems, "Well of Sparrow Song" is inspired by some of Matthews' students as well as religion, nature and fun Youtube videos.
During the month of October, K-State Polytechnic collected donations from faculty, staff and students for the Salina Area United Way and ended up reaching 74 percent of its goal. The names of those who contributed to the campaign were placed in a drawing and four winners were announced as the recipients of special campus prizes.

All Students
The 2019-2020 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available now. This is the application required for pell grants, federal student loans, federal parent loans and federal work-study. This application will cover the Fall 2019 and Spring 2020 semesters. Priority date to apply is December 1 . Aviation Students
Women in Aviation scholarships are open to applicants. Deadline: November 12, 2018 . Apply Here
The Janice Barden Scholarship is open to any aviation student who is a sophomore or higher with a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher. The award will be a minimum of $1,000. Deadline: November 30, 2018. Apply Here
The Dan L. Meisinger Sr Memorial Learn to Fly Scholarship is a $2,500 award to an aviation student. It is for initial or primary flight training. Must have a 3.0 or better GPA. Preference given to KS, MO or Illinois residents. Deadline: November 30, 2018 . Apply Here
The $1,000 Pioneers of Flight scholarship is open to any sophomore or junior majoring in aviation. Must have a 3.0 or higher GPA. Deadline: December 28, 2018 . Apply Here

Veteran Students
VFW "Sport Clips Help a Hero Scholarship" - Scholarships up to $5,000 for the spring semester are available to current active duty or Guard/Reserves or veterans. A completed FAFSA is required. Deadline:  November 15, 2018 . Apply Here
Employee Tuition Assistance
Some K-State employees may be eligible for employee tuition assistance. Up to 3 credit hours of tuition a semester is possible. Must be a full-time (0.9 FTE or above), benefits-eligible position. For more information, visit http://www.k-state.edu/sfa/manage/forms/eta1.pdf .
Dependent/Spouse Grant
Dependents and spouses of full-time (0.9 FTE or above), benefits eligible, regular appointment employees may qualify for the dependent/spouse grant – up to 7 hours for full-time, undergraduate dependents and 3 hours for spouses and graduate dependents.
