Dear SAS Families,
Happy Friday! What an especially wonderful week it has been at SAS! It was so exciting to see all our angels and saints arrive on campus Monday morning ready to participate in our all-school All Saints Day celebration. Students in PK & Kindergarten were dressed as angels, while 1st – 3rd Grade students dressed as their chosen saint. Students in 4th Grade created shrines or medals of their saints, and 5th & 6th Grade created soda bottle saints. We began All Saints Day with our Faith Family Assembly where we introduced the virtue of the month, Humility. From the assembly, our saints processed out of the gym and over to the soccer fields where Fr. Dan gave us all a special blessing before we began the Parade of Saints. Following the Parade of Saints, students processed to the church for Mass. In the afternoon, our 7th & 8th Graders presented a Living Saints Museum in the Parish Hall. These Saints came to life as students told visitors about their lives. It was a full day and one filled with the many blessings of our Catholic faith!
On Tuesday, we observed All Souls Day as students visited the church to pray for the souls of the dearly departed, remembering family and friends who have passed and praying especially for those who may not have anyone praying for them. A special thank you to Deacon Kevin and Mrs. Harrington for organizing this special day and for sharing with students, faculty, & staff the purpose and significance of this special holy day and the importance of praying for all who have died.
Next Tuesday, November 9th, Saint Andrew Catholic School will present the personal safety and abuse prevention program, Empowering God’s Children®, to our Kindergarten - 8th grade students. This program is provided to us by the Diocese of Fort Worth and is a part of our ongoing mandated effort to help create and maintain a safe environment for children and to protect all children from those who might harm them. Information about the program was emailed to all parents yesterday and was also sent home in students’ Friday Folders. Please be sure to read the information and return the required form by Monday, November 8th.
On Veteran’s Day, Thursday, November 11th, we will be hosting a special Veteran’s Day program honoring all veterans, especially those men and women of our SAS community who are serving or who have served our great country. The program will begin at 2:00PM in the gym and all parents and veterans are welcome to attend. We are also still collecting photos of service men and women in our SAS community for a slide show we are putting together. Please see details below on the program and how/where to submit photos.
Finally, if your student is interested in participating in the Private School Interscholastic Association (PSIA) academic competition team, please see the information below in this email for details and to register. PSIA is open to all 2nd – 8th graders and this year can choose from ten different subjects/events in which to compete. This is a great opportunity to develop skills, represent SAS, and have fun while competing in an academic arena.
Reminder: Next Friday afternoon, November 12th is a Teacher Inservice, and we will have an Early Dismissal at 12:00PM. After school care will be available until 6:00PM, but there will be NO LUNCH service. Please be sure to send a lunch and a drink if your student(s) are staying for after school care.
I pray you all have a wonderful weekend and enjoy this beautiful fall weather. We look forward to welcoming our Wildcats back on Monday.

Second Spring Campaign Weekly Update
|
|
The rain limited the amount of work that could get done this week but much was still done. The Under Slab plumbing for the Cafeteria and Kitchen was completed and the deep electrical rough-in was completed on the Cafeteria and both crews have moved to work on the Early Childhood building. We are still well ahead of schedule.

Calling All 7th and 8th graders Interested in Forming a Robotics Club
|
|
We are looking for future marketers, engineers, computer scientists, builders and inventors to start a Robotics Club at SAS. What makes our Robotics Club unique? Our team will be a FIRST Robotics FRC team, and we will build and compete alongside Nolan Catholic High School (they will even help us out!).
Our aim is to prepare SAS students with the concepts should they join the Nolan Catholic RoboVikes. But most importantly, we want them to explore and expand their talents!
We need at least 8 students to form a team. These students will build, test, and present their robot. A Robotics team is diverse in skills (building and presenting), and we need many different talents to make a successful Robotics team.
If your student is interested in learning more, please contact SAS parent, Dee Estrada (dee@estradatx.com) for more information.

All Saints Day Celebration
|
|
Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.”
|
|
From our Principal, Laura Behee:
Among the many important and meaningful traditions in the Catholic Church is the upcoming observation of All Souls Day on November 2nd. We invite you to join us in prayer during the month of November in gratitude for the memories we hold in our hearts of our dearly departed. In the Catholic tradition, we recall them through our shared presence of God as we pray for the repose of their souls. Praying through the great Communion of Saints with the Holy Souls, we lift our minds, our hearts, and our own souls, with them, to the Lord.
This is a time purposely set aside to call to mind those we have known: beloved family and close friends who have touched our lives deeply and significantly. We also remember neighbors, teachers, clergy, other religious, and all who have contributed to our social, physical, intellectual, and spiritual formation. We also honor those we may not know personally but who are worthy of our prayers and remembrance, as well as the lives lost to COVID-19, violence, and unrest in the world.
Please click HERE to send us the names of deceased friends and loved ones. These names will be entered in our Book of Remembrance and we will be praying for them throughout the month of November, specifically during Adoration, praying the Rosary, during morning prayers and Holy Mass.
We give thanks to God for you and for all who have generously and lovingly touched our hearts and lives.
