'Experience the Future' Career Fair bringing more than 25 businesses to campus
Each semester, K-State Polytechnic hosts a career fair for students to connect with employers and network, learn what opportunities are in their field, and practice professionally presenting themselves. This fall, the "Experience the Future" Career Fair will take place Wednesday, Oct. 30 from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Aviation Maintenance Hangar. Companies such as 1 Vision, Sunflower Electric, Kaw Valley Engineering, KDOT, Kestrel Drone & Mapping Solutions, and Great Plains Manufacturing will be in attendance. There also will be several airlines represented. In addition, the Student Governing Association Career Fair Committee, who has planned the event, is providing a cookout for everyone in attendance.
Donors at next week's blood drive entered into $500 gift card drawing
K-State Polytechnic is hosting another Red Cross blood drive and participants could win a $500 gift card. The blood drive will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Oct. 30 and 31 in the Technology Center, Room 154. Interested donors should sign up for a time slot online. Anyone who gives blood during the month of October to the Red Cross will be automatically entered for a chance to win one of five $500 gift cards that can be redeemed at hundreds of merchants.

Scholarship opportunities
Aviation Students
UAA Janice K. Barden Aviation Scholarship is available to full-time students enrolled in an aviation-related program. Applicants must be a sophomore or higher and have a minimum GPA of 3.0.

The Dan L. Meisinger Sr. Memorial Learn to Fly Scholarship is available to students working on initial or primary flight training. Must have a 3.0 or better GPA. Preference is given to Kansas, Missouri or Illinois residents. $2500 award. Deadline: Nov. 29 Apply online here.

Women Professional Pilot Students
The International Society of Women Airline Pilots is offering scholarships up to $5000 to students working to acquire a CFI, CFII or MEI certificate, FIR, META or ATP certificate. Deadline: Nov. 12 Apply online here.
Veteran Students
The VFW "Sport Clips Help a Hero Scholarship" is offering a $5,000 scholarship for the spring semester. Must have separated with or currently hold a military rank of E-5 or below. Deadline: November 15, 2019 . Apply online here.
Employee Tuition Assistance
Award amount is for tuition only in a K-State course for up to 3 credit hours per term. The maximum award amount will not exceed the value of 3 hours at the in-state Manhattan/Salina tuition rate (ie. campus fees, other institutional fees, etc. are the responsibility of the employee).

Dependent/Spouse Grants
Only regular employees are eligible. If you are unsure if you are regular or term, check your contract or with the HR office. This grant is available for fall 2019 and spring 2020, but not in the summer. Apply Here

For dependents or spouses that are enrolled full time in a degree terminating undergraduate program, the award will be the equivalent of the regular, resident on-campus tuition rate for 7 undergraduate course credits, where full-time for an undergraduate is defined as at least 12 enrolled credit hours per regular fall/spring term.

For spouses that are enrolled part time in a degree terminating undergraduate program the maximum award will be the equivalent of the regular, resident on-campus tuition rate for 3 undergraduate course credits, where part time for an undergraduate is defined as less than 12 enrolled credit hours per regular fall/spring term. (Enrollment of less than 3 credit hours, will result in the proration of the award i.e. 2 credit hours enrolled = the equivalent of the regular, resident on-campus tuition rate for 2 credit hours - or - 1 credit hour enrolled = the equivalent of the regular, resident on-campus tuition rate for 1 credit hour. )
Dependents that are enrolled less than full-time in an undergraduate program are not eligible for the K-State Dependent/Spouse Grant.

For dependents or spouses who are enrolled in a degree terminating graduate or veterinary medicine program the maximum award will be the equivalent of the regular, resident on-campus tuition rate for 3 course credit hours as indicated by the student's degree program, graduate or veterinary medicine. (Enrollment of less than 3 credit hours, will result in the proration of the award i.e. 2 credit hours enrolled = the equivalent of the regular, resident on-campus tuition rate for 2 credit hours - or - 1 credit hour enrolled = the equivalent of the regular, resident on-campus tuition rate for 1 credit hour.)
