Dear SAS Families!

Happy Friday and the start of the long, holiday weekend!

With August now behind us, we have settled into more consistent routines, both in the classrooms and in the day-to-day processes and procedures. A few reminders that we ask your help with as we move into September:

Arrival/Dismissal Procedures:

To help our carline run as smoothly and safely as possible, please be sure to pay attention and stay off technology while in car line.  We ask that parents/drivers stay in your cars when you pull up to pick up your student(s).  Faculty & staff are on hand to assist children getting into their vehicles and/or assist them with loading their belongings and band instruments as well. Finally, pick up location for your student remains the same regardless of sibling absences (due to sports or illness).  For example, if your kindergarten student is absent, his/her 5th grade sibling should still be picked up in the back carline.

Lunch:

Lunch orders are due by 5:00PM each day for the next day.  All orders placed after that time will NOT be processed.  We do have Lunchables lunches on hand for students needing a lunch. FACTS accounts are charged $5 per Lunchable lunch.  Please see the information below in this newsletter to open a lunch account and to place orders.

Finally, we are still looking for volunteers to help monitor lunch in the classrooms so our teachers can enjoy a duty-free lunch.  If you would like to help, please see the sign-up below.

Paperwork:

We are updating files and have requested missing information/documentation from parents/families as needed.  If you have received an email or call from Mrs. Corso regarding missing documentation (birth certificates, shot records, baptismal certificates, health reports, permission for publication, etc.), please be sure to send those items in as soon as possible.

Finally, many families have not yet submitted a signed acknowledgement form indicating you have read and understand the Student/Parent Handbook.  Please see the link below to read the handbook, print and sign the acknowledgement form, and return the form to school.

Student/Parent Handbook:

Weekend Mass-September 18th & 19th:

All SAS students should plan to wear their full dress/Mass uniforms when they attend Mass with their families the weekend of September 18th & 19th.  We will be sharing more about that weekend in next week’s Wildcat Weekly.

Faith Family Assembly

We will have our first Faith Families Assembly of the school year next Thursday, September 9th, where we will introduce the virtue for the month of September, the virtue of Hope and Prayer. Following the assembly, students will move to their Faith Family classroom to further the discussion and begin the service project for the month. This month’s service project will focus on helping our neighbors in Louisiana affected by Hurricane Ida.  More information and details on how all can help will be shared next week.

May God continue to bless you and your families. I pray that you all enjoy a wonderful weekend and we look forward to seeing you back on Tuesday, September 7th!

Blessings,
Principal
Protecting God's Children/Safe Environment
We are so excited to have parent volunteers back on campus! Please remember that Safe Environment training is required for everyone volunteering this school year for field trips, class parties, Fall Festival, etc. For a list of LIVE sessions, to set up a Virtus online profile and to begin registration for one of the sessions, or to take a renewal session (required very two years) please click HERE. You may attend a session at any of the parishes in the Diocese.

Saint Andrew Church and School will be offering the following Protecting God's Children for Adults sessions in the Parish Hall:

(This session is specified for SAS parents and parishioners only.)

Monday, September 27th from 6:00pm - 9:00pm

SAS Parent Lunch Volunteers
Calling All Volunteers!

We need your help! We would like to create a schedule of volunteers to cover 20 minute lunch periods so our teachers can enjoy a short break at that time too. Below, please find a schedule of available time slots for each day. To create more consistency and reliable coverage, it would be optimal (if your schedule permits) for volunteers to choose the day(s) and time slot(s) that you think would work best for you each week and commit to that day and time for the semester. Volunteers would cover lunch only. Teachers will take their students to recess.

*Please note, in order to volunteer, you must be current with your Virtus Safe Environment Training. All volunteers must check in at the front office upon arrival and will be COVID screened before entering the classroom(s).*
From the Nurse
Please continue to monitor your children daily for any symptoms of COVID-19 or other contagious illnesses prior to coming on campus

  • If experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19 or another contagious illness, please stay home and consult your physician for further guidance

  • If anyone in your household is waiting on COVID-19 Test Results to come back, please keep your children and all siblings home from school until the results come back.

  • If anyone in your household tests positive for COVID-19, please notify administration and/or the school nurse for further guidance.

  • If your child or anyone in your household has been exposed to COVID-19, please notify administration and/or the school nurse for further guidance.

Exposure, or Close Contact, is someone:

-who was within 6 feet of an infected person (laboratory-confirmed) for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period (for example, three individual 5-minute exposures for a total of 15 minutes).

-An infected person can spread SARS-CoV-2 starting from 2 days (48 hours) before they have any symptoms (or, for asymptomatic patients, 2 days before the positive specimen collection date).

-If a student has symptoms (for fever this is 100 or over) and/or tests positive within 48 hours of being in class, this would be an exposure.

Blessings,
Shannon Cruze,RN

SAS Volunteer Spotlight
Meet the Sanchez Family!

Eddie and Andrea Sanchez are parents of Gigi Sanchez (SAS class of 2026). They have been a part of SAS since 2015 when Gigi began Pre-k 3 with Mrs. Deem.
Our favorite part of SAS is the community.  When we first started looking at different schools in our area, we happened to come across a flyer for the SAS Catholic Schools Week Open House.  The moment we walked through those doors we knew the Lord put us here for a reason.  We instantly felt like we were a part of the community and have felt that way ever since.

This year Andrea has accepted the role of VP programs for HSA. You can see her around campus helping with the spirit shop, the library as well as many SAS events.  Eddie is Inside Guard for Saint Andrew Knights of Columbus. He can be seen around the Church helping with hospitality and various events.  Gigi is our proud 4th grader.  If she is not playing basketball or volleyball, she is our right-hand girl always happy to help mom and dad with anything.

Favorite Bible Verse: Joshua 1:9
Go be Great, be strong and courageous, do not be afraid, do not be discouraged for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

Prayer Partners
Want to provide our faculty and staff with the best gift ever, that costs nothing?

Sign up to be a prayer partner. This takes just a second of your day and strengthens out faculty and staff with God's Grace. It is simple. You will be assigned a staff member and will keep them in your daily prayers. And, that staff member will be keeping you in their prayers. Who doesn't need a few extra prayers?

Many prayer enthusiasts are needed for this special ministry and parents (moms and dads), grandparents and friends are strongly encouraged to volunteer. We will partner you with a member of the school team, provide a prayer card as a visual reminder and send occasional tips for new ways to pray and deepen your faith.

If you are called to volunteer, please email Gina Guirola by Wednesday, September 8th.
Spiritual Life Committee Marian Statue Program
Home and School’s Spiritual Life Committee at SAS offers two blessed statues to its families, a Statue of Rosa Mystica and an Immaculate Heart of Mary Statue.

Each week, from a Wednesday afternoon to the following Wednesday morning, two families have the opportunity to take one of these statues home to use as a source of inspiration, prayer and reflection. The tote bag containing the statue also contains suggested prayers. This special tradition will hopefully be one full of meaning and faith for each of you. Pick up and drop off location is the SAS Front Office.

Sign up is ongoing through the school year.
School Lunches
Food 4 Life Catering will once again be providing lunch service to our students. Click on the button below for lunch program information.

For families that DO NOT have an existing lunch account please click HERE to complete a lunch account form.
