NOTES FROM THE NURSES
Welcome to October! Fall has arrived and the cooler weather will soon follow. As we step into cold and flu season here are some reminders we would like to share with you.
1. Cold and flu season has started. Please help us prevent the spreading of germs: teach your children to cover their coughs, practice good hand hygiene, and remind them NOT to share food or drinks.
2. Please refer to the Nurse’s health page on the school website for information regarding when to keep your student home from school. We understand that keeping your child home for minor illnesses may be an inconvenience and they will miss instruction time, but this is the best way to prevent the spreading of germs.
3. Next week, October 16, 2018 we will begin performing the annual health screens- as mandated by the state of Texas. We will screen: Vision Hearing, and Acanthosis Nigricans (type 2 diabetes skin marker).
All students in 4K, 5K, 1, 3, 5 and 7
th
grades as well as any new student to Saint Andrew will be screened
. If your child is already under the care of a physician for a medical condition related to vision, hearing or diabetes Type 2, please send a letter or note from your child’s physician dated within the last year indicating the condition and treatment.
If you have any questions or concerns about your child, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Please

The Spiritual Life Committee at Saint Andrew Catholic School offers two blessed statues to its families: A statue of Rosa Mystica and an Immaculate Heart of Mary Statue.
Each week (from Wednesday afternoon to the following Wednesday morning) two families will have the opportunity to take these statues home and use them as a source of inspiration, prayer and reflection. The tote bag containing the statue will also have suggested prayers. This special tradition will hopefully be one full of meaning and faith for each of you.

TEEN VOLUNTEERS NEEDED IN THE NURSERY
The nursery for 8:30 Mass at St. Andrews church is looking for teen volunteers! We welcome any 7-12 graders who would enjoy working with children as a way to earn service hours. Pairs of teens work with an adult volunteer, who takes care of the gross jobs like wiping noses and changing diapers. We use a SignUp Genius to fill slots so you can schedule at your convenience. If your teen would like to help, please email Deb Boehmler for a link to the sign up.
