MISSING SOMETHING?
Parents, you may want to check with your child to see if they are missing an item of clothing, a water bottle, or a lunch box. We have lots of items that have been turned in to our Lost & Found, located in the white cabinets in the hallway near the nurse's office. Please stop by, or have your child stop by, if your child has lost something.

Please remember to put names on lunch boxes and uniform items!
ADVENT TREES
Every year at Christmas time Advent trees are placed in the front hallway of our school and students fill the branches with items for families in need.

This year the items we donate will go to serve several programs at Catholic Charities Fort Worth, specifically the children and families involved with the Gabriel Project. The Gabriel Project is a ministry that reaches out to women currently going through and also after a crisis pregnancy.
The holiday season is an amazing time of year, one for joy & reflection, but without the support of family & friends and without the ability to meet basic necessities, it can also be a really tough time for many people throughout the Diocese and across the country.

Through donation drives like ours, Catholic Charities is able to help more of those in need and provide a joyous holiday season that otherwise would not happen.
Items we are collecting include:

Tree #1 - Toys & stuffed animals
  (Balls,Trucks,Dolls,Small Stuffed animals)
One piece, no assembly, no batteries)

Tree #2 - bottles, baby wash and baby hygiene kits

Tree #3 - sleepers ( size newborn to 4T)

Tree #4 - Socks and underwear

While you are out shopping over the Thanksgiving break please consider buying some of these items to donate to this great cause. We will also collect gently used coats, both children and adult sizes.

The Advent trees will be in the front foyer when you return from Thanksgiving break and we will collect items until Monday, December 10th.

HOUR OF CODE 2018

We live in a world surrounded by technology. We also know that whatever field our students choose to go into as adults, their ability to succeed will increasingly hinge on understanding how technology works. But only a tiny fraction of us are learning computer science, and fewer students are studying it than a decade ago.

That is why our school, for the fifth year in a row, is joining in on the largest learning event in history: The Hour of Code. Students in grades K-4 will complete their Hour of Code over the next few weeks in observance of Computer Science Education Week (December 3-9). The Hour of Code is a global movement reaching tens of millions of students in 180+ countries.

Our Hour of Code is a statement that Saint Andrew Catholic School is already teaching these foundational 21st century skills. More than 100 million students worldwide have tried an Hour of Code.

After the Christmas break, students will continue with a basic coding unit for the month of January. Our students are changing the future with an Hour of Code!

Each week (from Wednesday afternoon to the following Wednesday morning) two families will have the opportunity to take these statues home and use them as a source of inspiration, prayer and reflection. The tote bag containing the statue will also have suggested prayers. This special tradition will hopefully be one full of meaning and faith for each of you.   Click herEventse  to sign up.  Email Karen Schroder if you have any questions.
