A Month In & School Spirit Galore | | Homecoming Week was another one to remember at New London-Spicer! Throughout the week, our schools were filled with Wildcat pride as students and staff celebrated with themed dress-up days, bean bag tournaments, paw print scavenger hunts, pep fests, and countless other activities that brought our school community together. One of the week's highlights was the Senior Athlete Meet & Greet, where our younger Wildcats had the opportunity to connect with high school student-athletes and build excitement for Homecoming. Thank you to everyone who helped make this week such a memorable celebration of school spirit, community, and the traditions that make New London-Spicer a special place to learn and grow. | | |

We want you to know about something big coming up this fall: NLS 2026 Zero Tax-Increase Big Benefits Operating Levy.
On November 3, NLS voters will decide on an operating levy. Here's the cool part: it comes with a ZERO tax increase!
A new state law states seasonal recreation properties can now help support our schools too, so the district can bring in about $1,015,000 more each year without raising anyone's taxes.
This funding helps protect the things that make NLS great: smaller class sizes, fun activities, more course choices, and school safety.
Learn more: NLS Referendum Website Questions? Call the Superintendent's office at (320) 354-2252
Mark your calendar to attend one of our next community meetings and get ready to vote on or before Nov. 3!

A Great Start & Homecoming Fun!
Middle School is off to a fantastic start! We kicked off the year by welcoming our 5th graders with an 8th grade and staff high-five line during our 'Welcome Back' rally. We also introduced out staff and had fun competitions between the grades.
Homecoming week was packed with school spirit! Students competed in recess lightning tournaments, dressed up for the ‘Middle School Spirit Award,’ and hunted for hidden paw prints to win a froyo party for their advisory. We capped off the week with a lively Pepfest featuring the school band, Homecoming Court introductions, and friendly grade competitions.
Looking Ahead: 5th Grade Wolf Ridge Trip
Our 5th graders are gearing up for their Wolf Ridge outdoor learning experience, where they will explore and learn all week from Sept 28 – Oct 2.

I would like to remind our families dropping off their child(ren) in the morning to please circle the perimeter of the parking lot, stay in line, and have your child ready to exit when you get to the designated drop-off location. If you want to park, please walk your child(ren) up to the crosswalk by the bus loading and drop-off area. The morning crossing guard will be able to inform the child(ren) when it is safe to cross. At the end of the day, if you are picking up your child(ren), please park, come up to the main doors, and wait for your child to come out. I truly appreciate everyone’s help.
Each Thursday, your child may bring home an envelope containing communication information from Prairie Woods to you. Please review the content of the envelope carefully, as it has important papers and notices, some of which may need to be completed and returned to school the following day.
Our Prairie Woods staff have been teaching all students our ROAR expectations for the hallway, restroom, cafeteria, school bus, playground, and classroom. ROAR stands for respect, ownership, good attitude, and responsibility. Our goal is to model the expectations, promote positive interactions, and celebrate with a monthly all-school reward for students successfully showing ROAR. I encourage you to ask your child about ROAR and ways they show ROAR throughout the school.

Our Cub Kids preschoolers were ALL smiles on the first day of school. We have had a fantastic first few days getting to know our teachers and new friends, learning our classroom routines, playing, exploring, and having lots of fun. We are excited for a year filled with learning, laughter, friendship, and wonderful memories!
We had a wonderful night at our Dine Out for Pre-K at Alley on Ash! A HUGE thank you to everyone who came out to enjoy a meal and support our preschoolers. The funds raised will go toward our preschool scholarship fund, helping make preschool possible for more families. A special shout-out to the amazing staff at Alley on Ash for all of their hard work and for helping make the night such a success.
Our “Fall into Colors” ECFE classes are officially underway, and we are having so much fun. Families are exploring the beautiful colors of fall through learning, playing, and hands-on activities. Our ECFE parents have also had time to get to know one another and our Parent Educator, Kate! ECFE is a great way for parents and children to begin their learning journey together while making new friends and creating special memories along the way.

Know the Rules Ride Safe As a courtesy, we are sharing the attached E-Vehicle Laws guide from the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office to help families understand Minnesota's current laws regarding e-bikes and other electric vehicles.
If your student rides an e-bike, e-scooter, motorized bike, or other electric vehicle to or from school, we encourage you to review this chart together. It outlines important information such as minimum age requirements, helmet laws, where these vehicles may be ridden, licensing requirements, and other regulations.
Please be aware that these are state laws, and students who do not follow them may be subject to enforcement. Our School Resource Officer has the authority to cite students who are operating these vehicles in violation of Minnesota law.
We appreciate your partnership in helping keep all students safe while traveling to and from school.
