Wildcat Activities
I want to take a moment to talk about the importance of our behavior in the student section during sporting events. We all know how exciting it can be to cheer on our teams, but it's important that we create a positive and respectful environment for everyone involved.
Here are a few things to keep in mind:
- Respect for All: Let’s show respect to opposing teams and their fans. A little sportsmanship goes a long way!
- Support Your Team: Cheer loudly and proudly, but keep it encouraging and uplifting. We want to be known for our spirit, not negativity.
- Be Mindful of Others: Remember that families and younger fans are often in the stands too. Let’s set a great example for them.
- School dress code still applies: Clothing that advertises alcohol or drugs is not allowed.
- Have Fun: Sporting events are about community and enjoyment! Let’s make memories that we can all look back on with pride.
One resource we are using is the Behavior Expectations the Minnesota State High School League created in cooperation with students throughout the state of Minnesota (pictured). Please take a moment to review these expectations with your family.
Go Cats!

MN Fallen Heroes Football Game |
To honor and remember our Minnesota Military Service members and emergency responders who died at the hands of hostile forces, were killed due to a direct hostile attack, or first responders who died during the line of duty. The NLS Educational Foundation 501c3 in collaboration with the Ryane Clark Heroes Project's Gold Star parents, Rick & Tracy Clark, created the MN Fallen Heroes Football Game to honor their son, Ryane G. Clark, a 2007 graduate of New London-Spicer High School and a United States Army soldier.
We invite the public to attend this historic game and the pre-game events. The grill out will begin at 4:30PM, followed by the away team & motorcycle escort's arrival at 5:10PM, and the Fallen Heroes ceremony at 6:25PM. The game will consist of both high school teams, (10) players each, who give up their names for the evening to play in honor of a local fallen hero who paid the ultimate sacrifice protecting this great country of ours.
Money raised supports the NLS Fallen Heroes Scholarship. If you would like to make a tax free donation, please click here.

We are in full swing of fundraising! We just finished up our 5th grade pizza sales, and our 6th-8th grade fundraisers are in the midst of their selling season.
We are well into the longest stretch of five day weeks for the year, so there is lots of learning happening. Our 5th graders have embarked on their Wolf Ridge trip and will return Friday, October 4. If you have any Wolf Ridge pictures from the first years of this tradition, we'd love for you to submit them to, Megan Norgren, norgrenm@isd345.org.
We need your help. We ask that parents/guardians please supervise your children at after school activities so that everyone is safe and all those in attendance can have a great time.

NLS Educational Foundation awarded $2,800 for Lifetime Activities | |
The goal of this project is to create opportunities for students to experience the positive impact of maintaining a healthy lifestyle post college. Most students are unaware of the activities that their community has to offer. By providing safe opportunities for participation in activities they may not otherwise try, this course may inspire interest in hobbies that can be maintained for years. The Lifetime Activities course will offer learning opportunities in the classroom, like bike safety, injury prevention, pickleball, spikeball, and group dance. They will also have a unit on the sport of frisbee golf.
This new course will be offered to 30 high school students this first year. In future years, Mr. Jacob Beranek would like to offer the class to 60+ high school students a year (one class per semester) as well as open it up to students in the summer through a partnership with NLS Community Education. The first course will begin in the fall of 2024.
“I feel that it’s important that we teach high school students different ways to maintain a healthy lifestyle,” Beranek continued, “Most students assume the only way to stay healthy is by getting into the weight room. This is an opportunity to teach students other ways that can be more adaptable for them to stay healthy for years.”
This engaging physical education course will include hands-on labs, physical units, and project-based learning. Students will also be required to have reflection time, which will help them personalize their learning and will aid in the retention of material.
For a limited amount of time, donations made to the Educational Foundation's endowment will be matched $1 to $1 by the Dickerson's Match Campaign. To donate, checks can be mailed to NLS Ed. Foundation, PO BOX 58, New London, MN 56273. New London-Spicer Educational Foundation is a non-profit organization filed under the 501c3 tax status.
