Homecoming Week is upon us. Our student organizations and staff have planned many notable activities for us to celebrate!
In addition to these school-sponsored activities, some of our students may participate in unsanctioned evening activities. New London-Spicer Schools does not support nor condone any reckless behavior, vandalism, or illegal behavior by our students in the community. I support and encourage conversations with your child about expectations and behavior. Together, we can promote consistent, lawful, and clear expectations that will lead to a safe and enjoyable homecoming experience for all.
I encourage you to review and discuss the legal parameters and possible consequences of inappropriate actions with your child and inform them of the county ordinance regarding trespassing with intent to litter which carries up to a $300 fine. Please report concerns/incidents to law enforcement as you would during any other week of the year.
I want to thank you for your continued partnership. We are looking forward to a safe, fun, and memorable homecoming experience!
Sincerely,
Bonnie Spohn, NLS High School Principal

We have started band lessons, gifted and talented services, and drafting students who need extra support in a class. Please remind students to check their schedules every day, so they are not marked absent. Attendance calls go out at 10 am for the first 2 periods of the day and at 3:20 for the rest of the day.

Just want to thank all our families for a great start to the school year. I can’t believe we are halfway through September.
HOMECOMING WEEK: Prairie Woods is participating by having dress up days all week and Pepfest on Wednesday. During pepfest, the pep band, cheerleaders, and senior athletes will come out to celebrate our Wildcat pride. A few of the seniors will also share about good sportsmanship and ways to cheer on Wildcats when attending an event.

FASTBRIDGE TEST RESULTS: Each classroom teacher will send home your child’s Fastbridge test results on Thursday, September 19. Some of the tests were taken during back-to-school conferences and also during the first few weeks of school. The tests help teachers monitor student growth and adjust teaching based on each student’s needs. Please feel free to reach out to your child’s teacher with any questions.
eLEARNING MATERIALS: Classrooms will send home eLearning Day materials on Thursday, September 26. These materials will only be needed if school is canceled for inclement weather. If school is canceled and an eLearning Day is called, students are expected to complete a task in each column of the eLearning board. You will find materials for five eLearning days should we need to use them. More information will come home with the eLearning materials. Please store the materials in a safe location in case they are needed.

We have had a busy and great start to the school year! Our Little Learners ECFE classes started last week and learned all about The Very Hungry Caterpillar! Our littlest Wildcats stayed with Miss Marni to play, make headbands, match colors and create caterpillars. Our ECFE parents spent time getting to know one another and our Parent Educator Kate! ECFE is a great way for parents and children to begin their learning experience together.
Please join us for the Dine Out for PreK fundraiser at Alley on Ash this Tuesday from 4:30 - 7:00PM! A portion of the proceeds will benefit our Early Childhood Education Scholarship program! Dine in or take out both help support our learners!
